Proposal to Continue Classroom Lease for Mack Snacks Inc.
Mack Snacks Inc. respectfully requests the opportunity to continue leasing the classroom we currently occupy in the 298 Town Building for our Life Skills Program serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
I founded Mack Snacks Inc. because of my daughter, Kathryn. As her mother, I wanted to ensure she would always have a place where she felt valued, a job she could be proud of, and a purpose each day. What began as a dream for Kathryn has grown into a program that welcomes other adults who simply need a little extra love, encouragement, and support to reach their fullest potential. Every participant deserves the opportunity to learn, contribute, and belong.
Our program operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., unless participants are engaged in educational and community-based activities throughout the community. The classroom provides a consistent, safe, and familiar learning environment where participants develop independent living, vocational, communication, and social skills.
One of the core values of Mack Snacks Inc. is giving back to the community. Our participants take great pride in making meaningful contributions, including:
* Shopping for and donating food to the local school food pantry.
* Designing and producing 250th Anniversary T-shirts to support the ACO donation account.
* Meeting with the Town’s new Director of Social Services to develop volunteer opportunities benefiting local seniors.
* Purchasing, creating, and donating custom T-shirts for community members and organizations.
These projects allow our participants to build confidence while demonstrating that adults with disabilities are valuable and active members of our community.
Our lease agreement with the high school concluded at the end of the school year. We are requesting permission to continue using our current classroom by entering into a lease with the Town under the proposed terms of $1.00 per year plus 1.3% of the classroom’s square footage, for an estimated annual cost of approximately $1,000.
We recognize and appreciate the success of the daycare program that occupies much of the 298 Town Building. Our request would not interfere with its operations. Our program’s limited schedule and educational mission make the current classroom an ideal location for continuing to serve adults with disabilities while remaining an active part of the community.
Remaining in our current classroom provides stability for our participants, many of whom thrive on routine and familiar surroundings. Relocating would disrupt programming and reduce the continuity that is so important to their success.
We respectfully ask for your consideration and support in allowing Mack Snacks Inc. to continue leasing this classroom so we can continue empowering adults with disabilities through education, meaningful employment opportunities, and community service. Your support will help ensure that Kathryn and many others like her continue to have a place where they are accepted, encouraged, and given the opportunity to make a positive difference in our community.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and continued support of inclusive programs that strengthen our community.
Sincerely,
Amy French
