Cats are good at hiding when something is off, and summer heat is no exception.

A few simple things can make a big difference. 🐱

🐾 Keep fresh water available at all times
🐾 Make sure they have access to cool, shaded spots indoors
🐾 Keep windows open carefully — screens can fail
🐾 Watch for signs of overheating like panting, drooling, or lethargy
🐾 Avoid leaving them in cars or sunrooms during peak heat hours

🐾 Heatstroke
🐾 Burned paw pads from hot pavement
🐾 BBQ food toxicity (bones, onions, corn cobs, alcohol)
🐾 Bee stings and allergic reactions
🐾 Water intoxication from swimming

Want to know if your pet is dehydrated? Try this.

Gently pinch the skin at the back of their neck, then let go. It should spring back immediately. If it stays tented, your pet may need water and possibly a vet visit.

Other signs to watch for 🐾
-Dry or tacky gums
-Sunken eyes
-Lethargy or confusion
-Not urinating
