Cleveland lost a giant in the service and therapy dog community. Mike was an industry friend who loved talking to anyone who would listen about therapy dogs and the incredible difference they can make.

He even brought a group of dogs and handlers to meet with my daughter’s American Heritage Girls troop, sharing that passion with the next generation.

Grateful to have known him. His kindness and enthusiasm will be missed. ❤️🐾

We almost forgot to give Bolt his official welcome to our Dawg Pound! 🧡🤎

This 1-year-old Doberman is a big, goofy boy who’s spent the past few weeks playing hard in our yard. Before heading home to his dad, he needed to trade a little of that backyard dirt for the fresh-from-the-groomer look. 😂🐾

Our friends at Oliver & Henry’s never disappoint! Groomer Jackie had Bolt looking sharp and smelling right—ready for his reunion with Dad.

Meet Thor.

Mom and Dad hired us for three simple tasks: take him outside, play ball, and make sure he went potty.

Thor heard “three tasks” and decided that sounded like a staffing problem.

He came outside for a cookie, immediately returned to the door, and then watched us play with his toys like we were the entertainment he had booked for the evening.

Potty? No.
Fetch? Also no.
Snack collection? Flawless.

We’d like to officially welcome Merlin to the Dawg Pound! 🧡🤎🐶

Mom & Dad moved to Cleveland pupless, and around here that just wasn’t going to fly. 😂 So we found out what they were looking for and connected them with our friends at Safe Harbor Animal Rescue.

That’s where they met a very special little Australian Labradoodle who came into rescue as a neonate.

Safe Harbor doesn’t typically adopt out puppies this young, but Mom & Dad were ready to take on the full bottle-baby experience. After plenty of conversation, preparation, and making sure the right support system was in place, Merlin was able to head home early with a whole team behind him.

Between Safe Harbor Animal Rescue, Doggie Concierge, Dr. Roll and Avon Lake Animal Clinic, this little guy has his own coaching staff making sure he’s eating, growing, learning, and getting everything he needs. Mom & Dad, meanwhile, are getting a crash course in bottles, potty schedules, middle-of-the-night wakeups, and just how much work can fit inside one tiny puppy. 😂🍼

We have a feeling Merlin is going to become a familiar face around here, and we’re excited to watch him grow through this season and many more to come.

Took Noodles and Vader to the vet today for their yearly checkups. We have to take the pugs two at a time because apparently having this many pugs is a lifestyle choice… and the vet bill agrees. 😂

This was their first visit with their new primary vet, Dr. Roll, after our favorite vet of the last several years moved out of state. Safe to say, I think the boys are in great hands.

Noodles — not pictured because he has important social obligations — is currently waiting by the door for literally anyone to come say hi to him.

Vader, on the other hand, would very much like an explanation as to why I have betrayed him and brought him to this place.

And because they’re pugs, they’ve also decided today is the perfect day to start blowing out their coats… directly onto my shirt. Naturally. 😂

Bonus: Vader got to see his rescue mama today too!

We’ve been working with this Doodle on lunging at his senior stepbrother anytime he even remotely enters his space bubble. 😬

Our process:

1️⃣ Give him a designated safe space where we can manage the environment and keep his stepbrothers from invading his bubble.

2️⃣ Teach a solid Place with duration.

3️⃣ Start proofing Place with his stepbrothers moving around nearby.

The biggest piece? Learning to anticipate the reaction before the lunge happens—watching his body language and listening to those little vocalizations that tell us he’s getting uncomfortable, then redirecting him before he escalates.

But training goes both ways. We also have to be reasonable and manage his senior stepbrother so he isn’t constantly wandering into a space we’ve specifically taught the Doodle is his safe zone.

We still have about 7 sessions to go, but the progress has been GREAT.

And we’re doing it without e-collars, prongs, harsh physical corrections, or fear-based training. Structure, management, communication, repetition, and reinforcement. 🐾

And yes… that last picture is absolutely the Doodle giving me the “FU” stare for ruining his plans. 😂

Congratulations to everyone who earned a spot on a 53-man roster! 🏈👏 That moment represents years of work, sacrifice, discipline, and a whole lot that most people never get to see.

And to those who were waived and are now waiting to find out what’s next—we’re thinking about you too.

There’s nothing easy about sitting in that uncomfortable space between what was and what’s next. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families as you wait for the next phone call, the next opportunity, and the next chapter.
