Tyson has left the building!!

The last month was a bit stressful for Tyson.. Being turned in to one place, transferred back to us, then being kenneled 24/7 didn’t fare to well for this poor guy.

He destroyed 2 kennel gates and took them off the hinges which didn’t do his nose and muzzle any good. But, thanks to our amazing vet Dr. Ryan Loiselle, he got Tyson fixed, updated on vaccines and on meds to a speedy recovery.

Tyson had lots of interest from a courtesy post from our friends in Cranston. Those interested didn’t quite meet what this guy was looking for until his new family saw him.

They came in on Saturday with his new sister, a 5 yr old female GSD, and the rest is history.

Best of luck Tyson! We are grateful you found a stellar forever home and can now rest and recover in a loving home!

Tw***ie has left the building..

Tw***ie was not up for adoption and scheduled for surgery this week when his new family came looking for a dog to adopt.

He could be seen in intake peeking around the corner and that was it.

Tw***ie was neutered and updated on his vaccines on Wednesday and has just hit the jackpot of his new forever home, with a new brother “Mikey”, 2 kids loving him already and a huge fenced in yard for all his puppy energy needs.

Best of luck Tw***ie!

Phoebe has found her forever home!

Phoebe came in as a NP stray.. I know, small, young dog, stray? We didn’t believe it either!

Well Phoebe passed her evaluation, was spayed and updated on her vaccines, and pow, off to her new home and family.

This couple had recently lost their Brittany Spaniel, so Phoebe has some big shoes to fill, and a great home to fill them in!

Congratulations on your adoption Phoebe!

Adoption Day!!

Tulip has found her forever home! Tulip came into the shelter as a Smithfield stray taken in by a resident, but then could keep due to the other household cats. In the interim, poor Tulip bring her Tortie self decided to scratch the finder (not bad).

After her 10 day quarantine, and proving she was just a typical Tortie, Tulip was spayed and updated on all vaccines.

Tulip has had a few meet and greets, but this one took the cake and she has now left for her new forever home!

🐾 A HUGE MILESTONE FOR THE TRI-TOWN ANIMAL SHELTER! 🐾
We are incredibly proud to announce that the Tri-Town Animal Shelter, serving the Towns of North Providence, Johnston, and Smithfield, achieved a 90% save rate for the 2025 calendar year and has been recognized by Best Friends Animal Society for reaching this important No-Kill milestone. ❤️🐶🐱

Each of our three communities — North Providence, Johnston, and Smithfield — will receive a special plaque recognizing this accomplishment.

🐾 But what does “No-Kill” really mean?
A No-Kill shelter does not mean that no animal is ever euthanized. The nationally recognized benchmark for a No-Kill community is generally a 90% or higher save rate.
It means that healthy and treatable animals are given every reasonable opportunity to survive and find a loving home. Animals are not euthanized simply because they are homeless, have been in the shelter for a long time, or may be more difficult to adopt.
Reaching this milestone takes dedication, experience, teamwork, and compassion.
And the Tri-Town Animal Shelter is fortunate to have an incredible amount of experience behind the animals we serve.

🐾 North Providence Animal Control Officer Ernest Calandra — 30 years of service
🐾 Johnston Animal Control Officer Richard Sousa — over 50 years of service
🐾 Smithfield Animal Control Officer Robert Salisbury — 26 years of service

That's more than 106 years of combined Animal Control experience dedicated to helping animals and serving our communities. ❤️
This achievement is not just about a percentage or a plaque. It represents the countless dogs and cats whose lives have been saved, the animals that were given a second chance, and the families who found their new best friend.
It also represents the dedication of our Animal Control Officers, shelter staff, volunteers, rescue organizations, veterinarians, fosters, adopters, and — most importantly — the continued support of the residents of North Providence, Johnston, and Smithfield.
We are proud of what our three communities have accomplished together.

Three Towns. One Shelter. Over 106 Years of Experience. One Mission — Saving Lives. `❤️
Congratulations to everyone who has played a part in making the Tri-Town Animal Shelter a place where animals get a second chance! 🎉🐶🐱

Angel earned her wings to fly to her new FOREVER home!!

Angel was the poster dog for a holiday donation drive sponsored by the Town of Smithfield. Ever since that day, Angel has been on her new owner Kristen’s mind.

Kristen always had a 2 dog household, up until a few weeks ago when they lost their rescue Sadie.

This week Angel met with Kristen then her husband and fur brother. The meet a greet was a total success, and away Angel flies to her new forever home today!!
