🐾 A Happy Ending for Rusty (Now Lucky!) 🐾
On October 29, 2025, a Johnston resident brought a large male Chow to Tri-Town Shelter after finding him running loose with a harness and leash attached—but no ID. We named him Rusty for obvious reasons ❤️
During his first month with us, Rusty had a hard time adjusting. He wouldn’t tolerate a collar and could only be walked with a leash attached to his harness. Walks were challenging—Rusty preferred to lead the way and wasn’t comfortable with too much handling, especially around his head.
But with time, patience, and care, Rusty slowly began to relax. Even so, he struggled to connect with prospective adopters, and after four months, he was still waiting for his perfect match.
Then, everything changed.
In walked Mr. Ben Ng, an experienced Chow owner with two dogs at home—Mochi and Teddy. The moment Rusty met Ben, he jumped up and gave him a kiss… and we knew something special was happening 💕
Ben later returned with Mochi and Teddy for a meet-and-greet, and it couldn’t have gone better. With their approval, Ben came back the very next day to adopt Rusty—now lovingly renamed Lucky 🍀
🐶 Update: Lucky is thriving in his new home! He’s enjoying walks, car rides, playtime in the yard with Mochi and Teddy, and even relaxing while watching TV with his new family.
Stories like Lucky’s remind us that sometimes the perfect match is just worth the wait. Thank you, Ben, for giving this deserving boy the life he always needed ❤️
