Be cautious with hydrogel products like cooling mats, migraine caps, eye masks, anything that contains hydrogel….
If your dog ingests it, there is a real risk of toxicity and no real treatment options, only symptomatic support. Don’t let dogs have access. 🛑

Side effects reported included neurological symptoms such as ataxia, muscle tremors, sound sensitivity, tremors and death.

New ASPCA research identifies potentially dangerous levels of residual acrylamide in consumer hydrogel products, linking ingestion to severe neurologic signs and death in dogs.

We support this request. Just because they are fish doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to be housed humanely and with care.
Treating any living things as if they are disposable is not OK.
Fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, bunnies, birds, reptiles, amphibians, none of them deserve to suffer.

Sometimes I feel we’ve come a long way, and then I see a small animal rodeo stampede roundup and realize we have such a long way to go…🫩

We need to do better. We ARE doing better….we just need to KEEP doing better. ❤️‍🩹

This fluffy guy is Coco!

He is feeling extra goodafter a much needed dental and groom.

Coco is a friendly boy, affectionate, and loves to play and have his belly rubbed.

He is good with cats. He is a bit dominant for attention, and may do better with female dog companions. Coco walks well on leash. His ideal home would be a quieter one, as he can be more stressed in hectic environments.

Just another Friday dog pair-up, this time featuring Cooper the Chi mix and DB the Malinois.

True socialization means a dog who remains neutral and calm when experiencing new environments, sounds, people, and animals.

One way we accomplish this is by walking all dogs together of differing sizes and energy levels. This is especially helpful with de-sensitizing prey-driven breeds and reducing dog reactivity in a more carefully controlled environment.

In this photo, you can see both dogs are relaxed and enjoying their walk together while still a safe distance apart --no direct contact intended.

Today was a great day at the Sun Fiesta! Huge thank you to the Womens Sertoma Club of Venice for always thinking of us and inviting us to participate! No rain and great temps made for an amazing time at Centennial Park in Venice!
We had lots of doggos with us: Merrick, Professor Utonium and his pups Buttercup and Bubbles, Cooper, Cooper2, Cassidy and Chompers! Thank you all for stopping by to pet the dogs and give treats!🐾
***Please give a big hand to the great helpers from Student Leadership Academy in Venice!! They helped walk dogs, puppy sit, and generally keep the dogs happy while our volunteers were so busy with questions!
What great young men they were!!!🏆

Huge thank you to one of our favorite groups: Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. Troop 520!!
These girls come through for the rescue regularly!!! We appreciate the donations so much- and their artwork is on 🔥!!

Their troop leader had this to say last year about their troop: Troop 520 is a Daisy- Junior level troop of 30 girls in Venice, FL. We are committed to spreading kindness locally & have instituted a kindness calendar - selecting a local organization to donate to each month. We hope every little bit helps!

💚 Support your local Girl Scouts during cookie season. It is the way our troops are funded & allow us to keep Girl Scouts an affordable/nearly free option for girls to be a part of! 💚

Rhonda is a 2 year old Chiweenie who is shy at first but oh so sweet!

Rhonda has made great progress learning to walk on leash with more confidence, but she is still a flight risk that requires a fenced yard.

She is affectionate and playful with other dogs. Rhonda would do best in an adult-only home and someone with patience to help her continue to blossom.

Oscar is a super sweet guy that enjoys walks and walks very nicely. He weighs about 25lbs and is ~3 years old.

Unfortunately, due to rain, Buggy says Rescue Garage will not be at the Sun Fiesta in Venice today (Saturday), but we WILL be there with cute doggos tomorrow (Sunday) from 10-2!
