Western Maine Great Pyrenees Rescue A new foster-based dog rescue formed to find quality homes for this great breed. They were originally bred in the Pyrean Mts. Most adapt easily to living inside.

WESTERN MAINE GREAT PYRENEES RESCUE is a new foster based dog rescue formed with the intention of finding quality homes for this wonderful breed. While many people are well aware of the plight of homeless and unwanted dogs in the southern US, The Pyrenees suffers additionally in the heat of the south due to the amount of hair that they have. between France and Spain as a Livestock guardian Dog. They thrive in New England's climate, loving snow and winter much more than summer's heat. Because they were bred to do their job without a lot of human input, they tend to be independent thinkers with a serious demeanor. But they are also gentle dogs who are devoted to their human family and protective when the need arises. WMGPR will rehome Pyrs in need from anywhere, but will focus on bringing dogs north from Mississippi. We are licensed by the state of Maine and will adopt to approved homes in ME and NH. We plan to stay small in the number of dogs we have at one time. This will allow each Pyrenees to have individual attention in a home/farm setting. This will allow the dog to develop the skills it will need to have a successful adoption, and hopefully, a forever home.

Yup, we are still available. There have been some inquiries on us this week, but no applications. Robin is still trying to find us a home together. She says we "complement" each other. We are both about a year old and 9 lbs each. Myself, Keeley, I am kind of a zippy little thing. My friend Becks, not so much. But we both love to play with each other, and so that gives me an outlet for my energy. I mean, who takes a 9 lb dog jogging, ? We both love toys, and people, but to be honest, Becks will sit with you and snuggle, while I check in briefly and go off looking for something else to do. That is why we are sitting in a utility sink to get our picture taken ! We have good leash skills now and she considers us pretty much housebroken. We are fine with other dogs and we dont bother cats. We would probably be fine with children old enough to remember we aren't toys. Got any questions? Email Robin at [email protected].

So Andy had his trip to Westbrook and is back here recovering from his "procedure". Thank you to Kylie and her crew for fostering Andy and Juno thru their formative months, and for Erin, who picked him up and drove him to Waterville so I could get some animals taken care of around here!

So this week the "summer" puppies come back to be neutered and head to their forever homes after a bit of healing. The first puppy is Andy and he needs to be at Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, which is in Westbrook on Wednesday, October 21. I will have him there bright and early for his surgery. But Im throwing this out there, is there anyone that is in the Westbrook area, that could pick him up late afternoon and drive him north to me a bit? I have a full plate here on the farm, and if someone could pick him up and drive him an hour or so, to Augusta or Waterville, even , that would help me so much on this end! I could even give you some gas money, in this time of stupidly high gas prices. He will be sleepy and probably snooze the entire trip. I have no coverage on this end for horses, dogs or woodstoves, and I would greatly appreciate someone who could donate a couple hours of their time. Thanks, Robin

Why is this pair still here? Perhaps because people dont look for little dogs on a Great Pyrenees Rescue page. While they didnt arrive officially as a bobded pair, they compliment each other so well. Keeley, the schnoodle, is a high energy, busy girl. Becks is much lower energy girl, but lives to play with Keeley. THEY KEEP EACH OTHER AMUSED! Both are affectionate, walk nicely on a leash, go out to p*e and p**p, and use a piddle pad at night. They love human attention, and love to play with toys. The more, the merrier. Like all WMGPR dogs, they are 4 dx negative, UTD on vaccines and worming and microchipped and on heartworm preventative. I will adjust the bonded pair price to a wonderful home. They
have had a bunch of applications, but not none have been the best fit.Any questions, or for an application, please email Robin at [email protected]. And share in hopes of getting these cuties their forever!

Gusto is chilling in MS waiting to be heartworm negative but he recently did get out and about with some of the other dogs from Cheshire Abbey. I believe it involved a human foot race, donuts, and of course dogs. It looks like he and others were having a pretty good time while out on the town!

Keeley and Becks are looking for a home together, singly, the applications they got werent a great fit, and that is what I strive for. Keeley, the black one, is a medium energy girl who loves toys and lives to play, and Becks while lower energy, lives to play with Keeley and keep her amused. They compliment each other well. Both love people, at this point Becks is a bit more into snuggling, but Keeley will check in frequently on her way to go check something else out ! They are both about a year old and 9 pounds each. They are spayed, heartworm negative, UTD on vaccinations and worming, microchipped and walking on a leash well. They go outside to potty during the day and are figuring out the piddle pad thing pretty well at night. Normally WMGPR 's adoption fee is 400.00, but I will make an adjustment for the perfect home that is willing to adopt both of them..any questions, or if you wish to submit an application please email Robin at [email protected]. Becks and Keeley are dressed for success in this cool Maine weather! Im still taking applications on them, looking for the best fit. Becks and Keeley are settling in well in Maine. Keeley had a bunch of applications, but at the last minute her adopter changed their mind, so she is still available, as well as Becks. Both girls are about a year old and 9 lbs each. Keeley is the life of the party kind of girl, active, and loves to play with toys. Becks is calmer, more of sit back and watch kind of gal, but both are very affectionate and love people. They came up in seperate Kennels from MS, and I didnt originally list them as bonded. But it was pretty obvious on the way back from transport that they truly missed each other and were very happy to be back together. They are spayed, microchipped, UTD on vaccinations and worming, and 4 dx negative as well. They are doing well with their leash training and are learning to use a piddle pad in their crate at night. They are happy, enthusiastic girls who are looking for a home, possibly together.
