If ypu feel so inclined, please send my friends Shannon and Rose a few dollars to help their mission. They take "breeder dump" puppies and pull from underfunded shelters in the Carolinas and Va, so their dogs come with hefty vet bills. Avery was the most recent dog they have sent to WMGPR. They have been great to work with and are willing to send me a dog anytime I have asked. CPR does great work in an area that has so many Great Pyrenees in need.

Last week was wild. Because we have placed dogs, we took in seven new Pyrs.

Three need additional veterinary care beyond the basics.

We are raising $6,000 to cover those costs.

Manny, a young adult male from a shelter partner, came in with almost no fur but lots of heartworms.

Walrus, another young adult male from a shelter partner, came in with heartworms, too. Both will need treatment.

Nova, an adult female, has heartworms and will need treatment as well. She also had a gunshot wound to her left front leg and required an emergency amputation.

We will be telling you more about all three of these dogs -- and the other new Pyrs -- but we wanted to establish this fundraiser for them ASAP.

We are so grateful that we can commit to taking in dogs who would have no other chance and know that we can cover their costs.

Maggie even went to the next booth and did a little freelancing! They were a great help when we needed one more set of hands with the canopy.

Yesterday WMGPR went to Portland Maine for Pet Rock in the Park. Mabel, her mother Maggie May and former shy girl Zoey, now Josie met a bunch of people and enjoyed alot of petting by people who wondered if Pyrenees are truly as soft as they look? They handled meeting dogs of all shapes and sizes equally well.It was also a great chance to see Illene and David and Tosh, and Kristen and Tom and Maple, adopters that both live in Cape Elizabeth. A big thank you to friends Erin and Bethany who came to set up, finish the raffle tickets , and just be very helpful in so many ways ! The raffle basket was stocked with so many neat things, and I appreciate all the people who donated stuff for it ! Everything donated was high end and well thought out. Thank you to everyone who made this year's event a success!

The raffle basket was won by Greg, who is the proud owner of 2 hounds. Maggie is doing her best to show him how soft and cloud-like Pyrenees are! WMGPR hopes your boys and your friend's new Bassett rescue enjoy all the goodies in it !

Had an update from Teton and Jay. Teton was taken in with a poodle by Carolina POODLE Rescue a few summers back. Elderly owners, no provisions made for either dog, you know this drill. He came to Maine but he was not a dog that handled change well. He had lived his entire life with his people, only to find he was now living with a bunch of poodles of varying sizes. He was sad and stubborn when he arrived in Maine. I knew that whoever he went to was going to have to do a little work on their end. Teton had 3 visits with Jay before he decided Jay was alright, and he never looked back.

Jay and Teton took a trip to Canada recently and send some pics from their camping trip thru Canada. Thank you Jay, he truly is a happy boy with you.!

So true....everyone can do a little something. For example, if you can't foster, thats fine, can you pick up a dog from the vets and drive it back instead? Can you do a one time shipment of a specific kind of dog food? Any rescue would appreciate that, Im sure.

If you think one person can't make a difference, ask the dog who got a second chance. Every rescued animal is a win against a world that too often looks away. Your time, your donation, your voice-they all matter. Rescue is powered by ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
You make the difference!

Maggie wants to thank everyone who has donated something for this Sunday's "Pet Rock in the Park"! The raffle basket will be full of cool doggie themed things for some lucky person and the money raised goes to the "Shiloh Fund" which pays for heartworm positive dogs to be treated and cured so they can come to Maine. WMGPR has paid for the treatment for 2 dogs in 2026, Denali and Gusto, both in Mississippi. It runs from 11 to 3, its in Deering Oaks Park in the Big Portland, admission is free, and it is one big dog party, so stop by and say hello! There is great live music and I hear the food trucks have some worthwhile eats as well.
