Leaving pets in cars on hot days can be incredibly dangerous. Even when it's just 85 degrees outside, the temperature inside a car can soar to over 100 degrees in as little as ten minutes. Dogs, in particular, are highly susceptible to heatstroke and can suffer brain damage or death in a matter of minutes in such conditions. Their bodies cannot regulate heat as efficiently as humans, making them vulnerable to overheating. It's essential to prioritize their safety by never leaving them unattended in a car, even for a short time. If you can't take them with you, it's best to leave them at home where they can stay cool and comfortable. If you come across an animal left unattended in a vehicle, please contact your local animal control.
