Spirit likely spent most of his life outside before arriving at our doors. When we met him, we immediately saw how incredibly sweet he was, but we also saw how frail, skinny, dirty and sick he had become.
And yet, somehow, Spirit’s spirit was still shining.
From the moment he arrived, he was purring, accepting love and ready to take on whatever came next.
After further examination and testing, we learned just how much Spirit was facing. He was anemic, battling parasites, has scarring on his cornea, dental disease that makes eating dry food difficult, and he tested positive for heartworm.
Heartworm in cats is uncommon, and unfortunately, there is no approved medication that safely eliminates adult heartworms in cats. For Spirit, our focus is on treating his current conditions, managing his symptoms and keeping him comfortable.
Today, Spirit is resting safely in a foster home and getting the individualized care he deserves. And despite everything his little body has been through, his spirit is still strong.
We know he wants to fight. We know he wants to feel better. And we want to be there for him every step of the way.
