SAVE THE DATE: SEPTEMBER 19 IS FOR EVERYONE WHO'S EVER LOOKED UP.
Every year, people all over the world step outside on the same night for the same reason, to look at the Moon together. It's called International Observe the Moon Night, and this year it falls on September 19.
WHAT IT ACTUALLY IS:
A worldwide, NASA-supported event where anyone, anywhere, is invited to go outside, look at the Moon, and share what they see. No registration, no fee, no equipment required.
WHY IT'S WORTH CLEARING YOUR EVENING FOR:
It's not really about seeing anything new, the Moon looks the way it always does. It's about doing it on purpose, on the same night as millions of other people, instead of just glancing up by accident.
WHAT TO DO THAT NIGHT:
Step outside after dark, look at the Moon, and if you want, share a photo or a thought with the hashtag people use for the event. Kids, beginners, and lifelong stargazers all take part the same way.
Save this now so you're not scrambling to remember the date next week.
Do you already have plans for that evening, or does this just become them?
