UPDATE 🍄🍁🤎🧡
Just sharing more about us because we have had a few changes around here in the past few years!
I’m the Kayla Bossler, owner of KRS Horsemanship, a full service Horse Training & Lesson Program where we specialize in a versatile horse that are fun and safe across manny disciplines! I got my start in horsemanship and training working for a local trainer who flipped horses and had 100s to work with. Then I was able to complete the Downunderhorsemanship Clinician Academy in 2015, where I spent almost a year learning.
I then spent the rest of the year working as an assistant in the barn of Roger Smith, reining trainer, before starting my own business.
I later added to my training by working under professionals Shannon Quinlan & Vincenzo Santos for a season before a stint in Wyoming working at a ranch with a herd of Gypsy Horses!
Our approach: to use thoughtful horsemanship in creating partners that are curious, willing and trusting, by avoiding pushing horses beyond their capacity mentally and physically.
We are also passionate about helping owners find a connection with their horses, so they can enjoy them without fear and worry.
Part of our journey to where we are now began with several clinic experiences with Magen Warlick, a past Clinton Anderson Professional who is highly successful in Extreme Cowboy Race and therefore someone I really looked up to for those two things at the time.
Little did I know I was going to learn something way more important than how to do obstacles fast.
She helped jump start my journey to a whole different approach to horsemanship, encouraging us to look into Warwick Schiller’s online library as well as showing us how to really slow things down and read the horse, HELP them understand our language and work WITH them instead of basically what I now view as just using a one size fits all approach that doesn’t truly allow for the individual to really and truly become the best they can be.
I’ll be honest, I was at a point when I first did one of her clinics, where I dreaded going out and going through the motions of trying to force another horse into a mold it didn’t fit or need to fit.
We all are on a journey in our horsemanship, and being open enough to see when there is much more to learn is what keeps it exciting!
Since those initial days I’ve been thriving on learning even more advanced horsemanship and am so excited about adding Western Dressage to our program, with the help of Betty Miller & Luke Gingerich, and it has so manny wonderful things to teach about a truly balanced horse and rider in harmony!
I’m excited about the coming years and what there is to learn, and please, don’t ever feel like there’s only one way to be doing this horse thing! Everyone learns differently and sometimes letting go of ways that you feel comfortable in is highly enlightening!!
