As the world knows, we had devastating fires in Los Angeles. Many lost everything. In time of need, we were there for several of our clients and we were able to save 0ver 30 Koi from the fires. They are housed in our warehouse until they can either return to their ponds or be rehomed.

Spring is finally upon us, birds, bees & predators are awake and most interested in the ponds as a great source of food. Aside from our usual battle with raccoons, now we have bears and that is an entirely different situation which we cannot handle without the assistance of Fish & Wildlife. A dear client lost 4 large Koi and the survivors are all scrapped. We are looking a electrical fences and other modalities to keep the hungry bears out of the pond as we understand they are hungry, just out of hibernation and most probably with cubs by their side. Never a dull moment when caring for fish.

2020 was and so was 2021, a worldwind! As we approach the end of the year and the season, much to be thankful for in the fish world. Regardless of all the ups & downs, clients tragically passing from Covid a/o homes being sold as it is a hot market; we managed to survive and the best news is that we had NO fish perish from diseases or parasites. We lost fish, sadly tumors, and genetic issues we could not have remedied. So, overall; it was a good year and of course challenging as ever. Our office/warehouse is transitioning to a new location, after 21 years in the same spot. Time for a fresh and vibrant location as rents in the LA area have gone berzerk. Moving fish is not an easy or fun task, we can handle it of course. Wishing you a wonderful December and Holidays.

Hello! It has been an extremely busy season and far from being over. Our temperatures have been high thus straining the electrical grid and causing systems to go down. All pond owners should always consider a backup plan, either solar with battery backup or a generator. If the power grid is down, there is only so much we can do as a pond maintenance company. Fish will suffer without a flowing system & no oxygen.

Brought in a few beauties today, now in quarantine for 2 weeks and soon to go to their new homes.

We've been busy! Spring has finally sprung and some Koi have been misbehaving. We've had some spawnings which means we are busy as many owners want to raise their babies which requires a special setup & time. It is also the time of year when Herons migrate back to Canada and decide to feast on fish as they travel north. So forgive me for the unorthodox humor to follow.

The Fish Lady like many others has had an encounter with Covid. We are running smaller crews at a reason of 10 hrs days to cover all while several employees are out with positive Covid tests. This is hard on all, those of us working are negative and not endangering any clients and also, we are outside. This year has been our hardest challenge, we will survive as we have for 35 yrs. Just another not so pleasant moment but as long as we keep fish & ourselves safe; all is good.
