EAGLE HABITAT IN BIG BEAR, CA

Jackie and Shadow need all of us to help save their habitat!

The “Friends of Big Bear Valley@ have raised just a little over $3 million dollars so far ……but $7 million more to go by July 31st.

Moon Camp is in a proposed development location that is in Jackie and Shadow's foraging area -less than a mile from their nest. This luxury residential housing project along with marina slips -according to wildlife experts -assures "significant detrimental impact" to Bald Eagles and endangered plant life. Environmental groups including Friends of Big Bear Valley (FOBBV) have been opposing this development since 2001 and have filed mulitple lawsuits on behalf of the Bald Eagles, San Bernardino flying squirrels and the rare Ash-gray Indian Paintbrush.

The San Bernardino Mountains Land Trust (SBMLT) has entered into a limited Purchase Option Agreement to buy the land and to save the eagles' foraging area on the undisturbed North Shore for $10 million. The funds need to be raised before JULY 31st. After the sale, the Moon Camp land will be in permanent conservatorship next to United States Forest Service (USFS) land.

We all love watching the ups and downs and the life that Jackie and Shadow have developed. The heartbreak when their eggs and hatchlings don't work out and the joy of watching the little eaglets that do survive. It's a true joy to be able to watch their fierce will to live and and to live their life together and get a glimpse of nature and for those of us in So-Cal - so close to home.

The mountains here and the wildlife are dear to my heart and I sincerely hope that we can rally and make this happen. It seems like a long shot, but we can do it.

Thank you dearly for your support.

Sam is licensed by the City of LA and we pay the $20 per year to keep his registration up to date.

This is one way we can help the crisis in Los Angeles affecting our shelter dogs. Our city no longer have any money for dog food for the stray shelter dogs! 😫😨😳 They also took away their one hour of time out per day so they are stuck in their kennels 24/7. If all that we can do is pay our dog’s licensing fees it would help a lot.

Gaspar for City Council - CD 3 -West San Fernando Valley. Vote for Tim Gaspar.

Sharing for a friend! Please read and share so we can help re-home sweet Olive!

“Olive is 1 year and 3 months; she is 50% Doberman, 25% husky and 25% Sheppard. She is just under 60 lbs. She is energetic, affectionate, loves to snuggle and food/treat motivated. She is potty trained and crate trained during the day. We have had her one year (adopted from west LA animal shelter Mar 25). She is spayed and up to date on all her vaccines.

We cannot keep her due to a situation that occurred with our young son. He was the aggressor and instigator in the situation, she was reacting and defending herself, but unfortunately Olive nipped our son so we cannot have them both in the same home any longer.

Olive attended 4 weeks of training camp at Doggie Do Good (Arroyo Grande) last summer and would be best placed in with an active family with no children or with older children only.

We are hoping to find Olive an amazing new home where she is free to be the snuggly and loving dog we have experienced the last year. She is not aggressive and gets along with dogs (we have a 12 year old lab) and co-exists with cats (on occasion she will chase them, but it doesn’t go beyond that).

We are located in West LA but are flexible on arranging transportation. We would supply all her belongings (2 crates, food we have on hand and toys).”

If interested please let me know and I can put you in contact with Olive’s owner! Thank you for reading and sharing! 🩷

Here are four excellent reasons to hire a professional pet sitter.

1- Knowing that your pet is in caring, loving hands.

2- Having the confidence that the pet sitter can deal with other issues - such as grooming, vet visits.

3- Eliminating the trauma of having to transport and leave your pet.

4- Not having to impose on family, friends or neighbors.

Find a professional near you by entering your zip code on the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters website

With pawTree – I just made it onto their weekly engagement list by being one of their top engagers! 🎉

I got over 40 reactions on one of my posts last week! Thanks everyone for your support! 🎉

After the morning walks and feeds -I came home to work on next week’s schedule. Checking in with all of our clients on schedule and ensuring we have their right days. I make my rounds every Saturday, and often it reminds some of our clients that they do, indeed need some more days on our schedule for their pets!!

Organizing who is going to do what and carefully making sure the routes all make sense from getting to one job or another for all of our BFF Team Members. Most of the schedule is now pretty much done for next week! Just a few more late additions to go. That takes up Much of my day on Saturdays! I took a short, but very nice nap in between and then went on to my afternoon midday visit for the dogs from this morning.

Generally we have a policy that when we are doing visits where the owner isn’t home (out of town or whatever reason) -that we need to do at least 3 visits per day for dogs. This schedule works out very well for most of our clients. The dogs figure out the routine fairly quickly and adapt usually very well! Is it the same as if you were home? Yes and No.

It’s not the same as if you were home because with 3 visits per day we are not “there” there with them 24 hours. But dogs are mostly self sufficient (unless they have separation anxiety but that’s another story). —however, sometimes it’s better than if someone was there 24 hours -BeCause -our visits are compact, concentrated and all that concentration is centered on Them! They really feel that Quality attention and that dedication to each and every one of their needs and I truly feel that by the time we leave from these visits that the dogs are generally satisfied, got what they needed from us and are happy to settle down and rest up for the next time we come in the door 🐶💜

I’ll be headed back down there tonight in about an hour for their dinner visit/potty break and dedicated dog care time. With our recommended 50 minute visit -(or longer) -I will have time -once they get the zoomies out and are all fed -to pet each of them, brush them and give them all of my love. 😍 I know they all love that. Little Lukie (who is new here) -follows me around like I’m literally his mother! He uses the cone to press up to my back legs and always wants to make sure I feel his nose is right behind me. I just have to make sure no one gets too jealous and all have equal time. I do spend some of my time in multi-dog households giving them my “No Fights No Bites” command! “No Fights, No Bites!!!”
