Jasper is here to train with usā˜ŗļøšŸ«¶šŸ».

Not only is he working on manners, but he’s also expanding his social skills. By pairing him with confident, socially appropriate dogs, we have seen him come out of his shell so muchšŸ„¹šŸ’•. Maggie made a wonderful friend for him this morning!

JoJo is back in the house🄹!

You might remember when we pulled three dogs from Norman Animal Welfare when they were completely full. Josephine was one of them. Not long after joining us, she found her forever home🄳.

Josephine, and her new sister Kiche, are here for the weekend. We have loved reconnecting with our old friendā˜ŗļø.

Ellie’s first home didn’t work out. Sometimes, it’s just not a good fit and that’s okay.

We were hoping that she would have been adopted at Norman Animal Welfare but we couldn’t stand to see her sit up there any longer.

We have learned that her only flaw is impulse control with toys, so we will be focusing on this while she is with us. She just gets really excited when she sees toysšŸ˜….

We are so excited to have her back with us and we can’t wait for her to find the perfect home.

It’s hard to believe that this dog reallyyyyy considered biting me when he met me less than 48 hours ago🤪.

I love being candid with you allšŸ«¶šŸ». Working with dogs is NOT all about petting dogs and loving on them. Sometimes, it means putting in blood, sweat, and tears to gain the trust of a dog who is not quick to make new friends.. Sometimes, it means taking a risk and reading a dog’s bluff when they’ve learned that pretending to be big and bad makes scary humans keep a safe distance.

Leonard is an incredible dog. If I ask him to jump, he says, ā€œHow high?ā€ When he is unsure, he looks to me for guidance. Could the whipped cream be a factor here? It’s very possible🤣.

Sometimes, working with dogs has a humbling way of reminding you that life is less about the final destination and more about the journey. Sure, there are dogs out there that are far quicker to befriend me than Leonard was, but it just makes his trust that much more special.

So, I’ll just be soaking up every second possible with him🄹. I know that this is a bit different than our usual content, but dogs like Leonard remind me just how special the job is.

Much Love,
Aubrey

Our newest training client just might be cute enough to break the internetšŸ˜‚šŸ’•.

Teddy is here to prove that little dogs can do everything that big dogs do🄹. He’s smart, he’s opinionated, and he’s always ready to learnšŸ˜.

Update: ADOPTEDšŸŽ‰
Calvin needs an adopter by 5PM on Friday.

Let’s talk about it.

Calvin was at risk when we first brought him to Annie’s. His behavior in the kennel was, quite frankly, abhorrent. He did not appear to be a dog that someone would want in their home.

We brought Calvin in and have spent a LOT of time getting to know him. We shared his photos, his progress, his trials, and allllll of the things.

For months, Calvin was with us and he had ONE person come up to meet him. You see, once dogs are no longer ā€œurgent,ā€ people feel less inclined to share their story or adopt them. But, this is a great reminder that their story doesn’t end once they have found a temporary placement.

Calvin has spent way too much time in a kennel. He is growing into such a good dog who loves to please. He’s goofy, he’s kind, and he’s spirited. He loves when someone sets clear expectations. What more could you ask for? Calvin is a wonderful companion.

He is sure to make you laugh and he’s sure to comfort you when you are having a bad day.

But, right now, he’s having a hard time. Living in a kennel is no way for a dog to live. While we wish he was not on the euthanasia list, we can’t fault Norman Animal Welfare for always prioritizing quality of life. Listening to dogs bark for months on end and staring at the same four walls is no way to live.

We will happily work with his adopters to ensure that he is set up for success in his new home. He just needs someone to be that person who will see him and know his worth. Please consider sharing this post.

We love you, CalvinšŸ«¶šŸ».
