In Strovolos, Cyprus, a new animal welfare initiative is bringing daily relief to thousands of stray cats through the installation of solar-powered automatic feeding stations.
These stations are designed to provide a steady supply of fresh food and clean water, helping street cats survive more safely and comfortably in urban environments. For many animals who rely on volunteers or unpredictable food sources, this consistent support can make a real difference in their health and well-being.
The project goes beyond feeding alone. It also contributes to broader animal welfare efforts by supporting sterilization programs and assisting local volunteers who work tirelessly to care for homeless cats in the area.
By combining simple technology with compassion, this initiative shows how practical solutions can improve the lives of vulnerable animals while supporting long-term population control and responsible care. It is a meaningful step toward a kinder and more sustainable future for stray cats.

Thomas showed up for breakfast again. Something is going on as I am seeing Thomas more often this past week. Maybe his other “house” is on vacation or something.

I am surprised he doesn’t knock on the door to let me know he is waiting for breakfast.

Support WildCare Oklahoma! WildCare Oklahoma is an integral and valuable animal welfare resource in our community. I am on Norman Animal Welfare Oversight Committee and can tell you the committee supports this request for funding. Hope you will as well. How you can help? You can do this by attending the city meeting or sending emails to council representatives.

Information from WildCare Oklahoma:

The Norman City Council will consider this funding request during a special budget meeting at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, in the City Council Chambers, 201 W. Gray Street, Norman, Oklahoma. (Please note: Approval of the budget occurs at a special meeting and not at the typical city council meeting time.)

For the first time in WildCare Oklahoma’s history, a formal request has been made for municipal funding to help support the wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, public health and safety, and animal welfare services we provide to Norman.

Last year alone, WildCare cared for 300 animals brought by Norman Animal Welfare officers and 1,363 additional animals from Norman residents. The proposed $51,600 annual allocation would cover only a portion of the costs associated with those services.

This comes at a critical moment. While responding to our busiest year ever, our fundraising revenue is down 40% compared to this time last year. To continue serving Oklahoma's wildlife, communities, and public health needs, we must develop sustainable funding sources. City, county, and state partnerships are part of that future.

How you can help:
1. Attend the meeting and wear your WildCare Oklahoma T-shirt if you have one. A strong, respectful show of support makes a difference.
2. Email or call council members and let them know why wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, conservation, and education are important to you and why Norman should invest in its partnership with WildCare Oklahoma.

For more than 40 years, WildCare has provided these essential animal welfare, conservation, and public health services to Norman at no cost to the city. This funding request represents an important opportunity to build a more sustainable future for wildlife care in Oklahoma.

This is about more than one budget request. If successful, Norman could become a model for other cities and counties across Oklahoma—demonstrating that wildlife rehabilitation is an essential community service worthy of public investment, just as it is in many parts of the country.

Together, we can build a future where Oklahoma's wildlife, people, and communities all benefit from a stable and sustainable wildlife care system where animal welfare includes more than caring for cats and dogs.

Thank you for your support,
The Team at WildCare Oklahoma
