A quick heads-up about our schedule for the next few days!

Monday, September 7 — CLOSED
Norman Animal Welfare will be closed in observance of Labor Day.

Tuesday, September 8 — OPEN
We will be open during our normal business hours.

Wednesday, September 9 — CLOSED
We will be closed for Staff Development Day.

We appreciate your understanding as we take time to celebrate the holiday and provide our staff with training and development opportunities.

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday!

GALLOWAY IS LOOKING FOR HIS RIGHT MATCH!

Galloway is a friendly, goofy, high-energy guy who is ready to trade shelter life for a home of his own!

After a brief adoption, we learned some important information that will help us make a better match for him. Galloway gets a little too interested when people are eating and has nipped at a young child while trying to get food. Because of this, Galloway needs a home without babies or young children and a family willing to work with him on boundaries, impulse control, and manners around food.

He would thrive with an active adopter who can give him plenty of exercise, enrichment, structure, and training. A securely fenced yard would be a bonus!

NORMAN ANIMAL WELFARE REUNION at ANNIE’S RUFF HOUSE!

Calling all Norman Animal Welfare alumni!

Our friends at Annie’s are hosting a Norman Animal Welfare Reunion, and we would LOVE to see some familiar faces!

Bring your NAW-adopted pets out to catch up with old friends, reunite with staff who knew and loved them during their time at the shelter, and show us how they’re doing in their forever homes!

There’s nothing better than seeing our former shelter pets happy, loved, and living their best lives. We can’t wait for some tail-wagging reunions, happy hellos, and maybe even a few “Do you remember me?!” moments.

Did your best friend find their forever home through Norman Animal Welfare? We want to celebrate them!

Annie’s Ruff House is excited to partner with Norman Animal Welfare to host a special NAW Alumni Reunion on September 30th.

This will be a full day of daycare to celebrate the dogs who started their stories at Norman Animal Welfare and the families who gave them their forever homes.

Norman Animal Welfare staff members will be on site to reconnect with the pets they have cared for in the past and see how they've grown and changed since finding their families😍❤️. They'll also have the opportunity to see how we run our play groups here at Annie's Ruff House😎.

‼️NAW alumni will receive 50% off daycare for the day of the reunion!‼️

⬇️⬇️Important for anyone who has not attended Annie's Ruff House before:⬇️⬇️

All dogs must complete a temperament test before the reunion in order to participate. Current proof of required vaccinations must be provided before the temperament test, including:

Rabies
Bordetella
DHPP
Leptospirosis

Dogs must be scheduled in advance for the reunion!

BEDLAM RESULTS ARE IN… AND EVERYONE WON!

The final score is Norman Animal Welfare: 63 adoptions and Stillwater Animal Welfare: 35 adoptions!

Yes, Norman came out on top in our friendly Bedlam competition…but the score we’re MOST excited about is this:

98 ANIMALS ADOPTED!

That’s 98 pets who left the shelter and headed home with new families—and THAT is something worth celebrating!

We are incredibly proud of the staff at both shelters who worked so hard throughout the Oklahoma Mega Adoption Event, and we couldn’t be happier for every animal who found a home.

A HUGE thank you to Best Friends Animal Society for sponsoring the Oklahoma Mega Adoption Event and making these fee-waived adoptions possible.

And to the Norman and Stillwater communities—THANK YOU! You showed up for your shelters. You adopted. You shared our posts. You tagged your friends. You cheered us on. We appreciate you more than you know!

Now… there was a little wager involved.

Since Norman took the Bedlam win, Rachel, Stillwater Animal Welfare’s Shelter Manager, will be making a trip to Norman to clean some kennels while sporting an OU shirt!

And don’t worry, Stillwater—we’ll be sure to take plenty of pictures and share them!

Great job, Stillwater. Great job, Norman. And congratulations to 98 very lucky pets and their new families!

UPDATE - ADOPTED!!

🐾💙 BARTHOLOMEW IS THE LAST ONE LEFT! 💙🐾

One by one, Bartholomew has watched his siblings leave the shelter and head off to their new homes. Now it’s his turn.

Bartholomew is still just a puppy, and we really don’t want to see him grow up in a shelter kennel. He deserves a home, a family, adventures, playtime, and someone to show him just how good life can be.

This handsome boy has plenty of puppy energy, so he’s looking for a family who can keep him active, engaged, and learning! Training will be important as he grows, and he’ll need someone ready to put in the time to help him become the very best boy he can be.

What Bartholomew really wants, though, is simple: to get OUT of the shelter and start growing up with a family of his own.

He’s ready to learn.
He’s ready to play.
He’s ready to love somebody.
He’s ready to GO HOME.

Please don’t let Bartholomew grow up in the shelter.
