✨ Update on Runa ✨

We recently welcomed sweet Runa into our rescue (we just shared her story a couple days ago 💔).

Yesterday, she went to the vet and tested positive for Ehrlichia, a tick-borne illness. With the number of ticks she came in with, this unfortunately isn’t a surprise—but it is treatable, and we’re starting her on medication right away.

Runa has been through a lot already, but she is safe now and on the road to recovery. ❤️

We could really use your help covering her treatment costs. If you’re able to donate, every dollar goes directly toward getting her healthy and ready for her forever home.

Once she completes treatment, she will be available for adoption—and we already know she’s going to make someone an amazing family member!

One of our board members recently came across a post from Melser about a dog who was likely dumped back in November. Deb connected with the people who found her—they had her checked for a microchip (none was found) and stepped up to get her vetted and cared for.

Unfortunately, their circumstances have changed, and they are no longer able to keep her. Even though we are currently on limited intake, we knew we had to step in when a foster home became available.

Deb graciously made the drive out to Lexington to pick her up and get her to safety ❤️

She was originally named Lady, but she now has a new name! Her foster family let their toddler help choose it—he loved the name “Luna,” but since he can’t quite pronounce his L’s yet, she became “Runa”… and it fits her perfectly 🐾

Runa is AMAZING. She’s estimated to be around 1–2 years old and appears to be a German Shepherd mix (we’re hoping to do a DNA test soon!). She is great with kids and other dogs so far, and we’ll be testing her with other animals in the coming weeks.

She is incredibly smart and eager, but like most young pups, she’ll need some continued training and structure to help her thrive.

We are asking for donations to help cover her intake costs, including:
• Heartworm testing and prevention (she has not been on prevention)
• Food
• Grooming
• Toys (this girl is young and ready to PLAY!)

🐾 WE NEED VOLUNTEERS — HELP US SAVE LIVES! 🐾
Our rescue is at a critical point, and we need creative, motivated volunteers to help us move forward.
💡 What we need help with:
• Organizing & running fundraising events
• Reaching out to local businesses to host events (paint nights, dine-to-donate, bingo nights, trivia, yoga with dogs, you name it!)
• Bringing new ideas to the table to help us raise funds and rebuild
🐶 Why this matters:
Before we can take in new dogs and cars, we must pay down our outstanding medical bills. Fundraising is the key to getting us back to a place where we can say “yes” to dogs and cats in need again.

🐾 Foster Needed for Sweet Gollum 🐾

Gollum is currently in a foster home, but due to another cat in the home having special needs and requiring extra care, Gollum isn’t getting the attention and enrichment he deserves. This is no fault of his own—he’s an absolutely adorable, loving boy who just needs a foster home where he can thrive. 💙

Unfortunately, we haven’t had any adoption applications for him yet, so we’re urgently looking for a new foster home to love and support him while he waits for his forever family.
