Four friends. Two bonded pairs. One shared dream: a family of their own. ❤️

Our sweet seniors enjoyed a special playdate in the sunshine this week, giving them a chance to stretch their legs, sniff around, and spend some quality time together.

Stan & Vern are a bonded pair of 9 year old male chihuahuas, and Princess & Pepper are a bonded pair of 7 year old female chihuahuas. These best friends have been through life's ups and downs together, and they'll need to be adopted together, too.

Watching them play today was a reminder that age is just a number. They still have plenty of life & love left in them. They may have a few gray hairs and a couple of extra pounds, but they still light up for attention, adventures, and playtime.

Senior dogs have so much to offer. They're gentle, grateful, and affectionate. We know their perfect families are out there somewhere. 🏠🥰

Every adoption photo tells a happy ending. But before that ending comes countless unseen moments.

The laundry loads.
The medication rounds.
The late-night checks.
The kennel cleaning.

Behind every animal that finds a home is a team that shows up every single day because they believe every life matters.

Grab your favorite pajamas and join us for a cozy weekend at the Norfolk SPCA!

Our staff will be sporting their favorite PJs all weekend long, and we invite our visitors to join in on the fun too. Whether you're coming to adopt, browse, or bring your furry family member for services, don't be surprised to see pajamas everywhere!

While we may not offer public emergency services regularly, that doesn’t mean emergencies don’t happen here.

Behind the scenes, there are animals fighting for their lives, recovering from surgery, needing medications, feedings, monitoring, and comfort at all hours of the day and night. The work doesn't stop when the doors close.

We're incredibly grateful for our staff who hustle through packed days at the shelter and clinic, caring for the constant flow of animals that depend on us, and then continue that same dedication long after most people have gone home. Whether it's a busy day full of adoptions, appointments, and animal care, or a late night emergency with a hospitalized patient, they show up with compassion, determination, and a genuine love for the animals we serve.

They are truly the heartbeat of our mission, and we could not do this work without them.

And if you're wondering what fuels this incredible team through the long days and even longer nights... let's just say coffee, Gatorade, popsicles, and chocolate are always appreciated. 😉❤️☕🥤🍫🐾
