February is National Pet Dental Health Month, dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of oral hygiene in dogs and cats to prevent periodontal disease. Over 70-80% of pets show signs of dental disease by age 3, which can lead to tooth loss and affect organ health. Key initiatives include daily brushing, dental checkups, and, often, dental cleanings at veterinary clinics.
There are products approved by the VOHC (Veterinary Oral Health Council) that can be added to your pet's daily routine to help with dental hygiene as well. The links to these resources are provided here.
