Come join Canine Capers for Summer School!
This series will consist of one week of evening seminars focused on helping handlers grow their technical and handling skills on course. The sessions will be taught by Canine Caper's own Director of Education and Curriculum Caroline Coyle!
ABOUT CAROLINE:
Caroline has been actively competing in agility since 2018 and during that time she and her Novice A dog, a Miniature American Shepherd named Odin have gone from their very first agility lesson to competing at AKC Agility Nationals, Westminster, and being invited to the 2027 1-TDC invitational next year! Caroline now competes with Odin and her younger dog Lyra, also a Miniature American Shepherd. She recently competed at the Canine Capers UKI I.C.E. Tournament where both of her pups earned 1st place podium placements. She is excited to be teaching these seminar sessions which focus strongly on refining the technical and teamwork skills necessary for success in agility.
There will be 6 working spots per session and auditing is encouraged! Cost for a working spot is $120 for the general public and $100 for Canine Capers students; auditing is $20 per session or unlimited auditing for $50. All sessions will be held indoors on blue mats at Canine Capers in Norcross, GA.
SEMINAR SESSION TOPICS:
**Advanced Weave Skills** -- 4 spots remaining
Monday, August 3rd, 6:30pm-9:30pm
Proof and re-proof your weave skills with hard entries and exits, tough discriminations, layering, and more. The goal of this session is to find the holes in your training so that we can address them!
**Either/Or for Green Dogs** -- 4 spots remaining
Tuesday, August 4th, 6:30pm-9:30pm
Either/or training aims to help dogs listen and respond to handling cues rather than anticipating the next obstacle themselves. In this seminar we will train and test your dogs understanding of your handling cues to ensure you move smoothly together as a team.
**International Style Threadles** -- 3 spots remaining
Wednesday, August 5th, 6:30pm-9:30pm
Focus on sequencing with threadle wraps and threadle slices to refine your timing and proof handling the cue and your dog's commitment from a variety of angles and distances.
**Distance and Layering** -- 3 spots remaining
Thursday, August 6th, 6:30pm-9:30pm
Test the waters of working farther from your dog by providing challenges for teams to negotiate. Handlers will focus on understanding their dog's commitment, cueing from a distance, and pushing the line without over-managing their dog.
