We recently recovered a beautiful Sabino Paint gelding 🤎🐴

While on a do-not-ship list, he suffered a significant laceration during the moving process. Sonja received the call and made the decision to purchase him and give him a second chance.

Due to his injury, he wasn’t able to be transported right away, and the initial treatment and care for his wound was provided for two weeks before we were finally able to recover him from the feedlot.

8 days of healing, care, and second chances 🤎🐴

When this Palomino Half Draft gelding first arrived at S&D, he was dehydrated and fighting a sinus infection. Thanks to Dr. Esquivel, he was able to get the medicine and support he needed to begin feeling better.

Just over a week later, he’s settling into his new life- learning that fly spray isn’t so scary, enjoying scratches and affection from people, and slowly becoming more comfortable with his surroundings ✨

We’re so excited for the day he gets to step out into the draft pasture and start exploring with the other horses. One quiet moment of trust at a time💛

Day 1 vs. Day 8 for this beautiful recovered Belgian Draft🤎🐴

On day 1, our Belgian Draft gelding stepped into a brand-new pasture, unsure of his surroundings and quickly introduced to the herd… including a welcome kick from Onyx (not nice Onyx...😒)

By day 8, he’s peacefully eating, soaking up the sunshine, and relaxing beside the same horses that once felt unfamiliar ✨

He still has flies around his eyes as his immune system continues rebuilding, but each day he grows a little stronger. His beautiful silver mane and tail make him stand-out from the crowd 🤎
