You are known as nurses, technicians, and assistants, and you handle everything with grace. Those who understand your roles truly appreciate the dedication you show to every animal. Often, your sacrifices go unacknowledged, but your passion and care for each pet do not go unnoticed. We are grateful for everything you do, day in and day out. Happy Vet Tech Week!

This National Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating the incredible Associates who make our hospitals thrive — like Karen, who began as a CSR and never stopped growing and like Joanne, who sought mentorship and support to obtain her VTNE.

At VCA, we're proud to champion our veterinary technicians every step of the way — offering mentorship, encouragement, and the resources to help you reach your full potential.

To every vet tech in our VCA family: thank you. What you do matters deeply — to our teams, to our patients, and to the pet owners who trust us with their most beloved companions.

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.

With the abundance of damp, wet leaves around, your dog may be at risk for leptospirosis. This disease can cause significant harm to the kidneys, liver, and other vital organs, and in severe cases, it can be fatal. The bacteria responsible for this illness are found in the urine of infected animals and can survive in warm, stagnant water or moist soil for extended periods. Dogs can contract the infection from various animals, such as skunks, raccoons, opossums, rats, wolves, and even other dogs. Contact us today to schedule your pet for their Lepto vaccine!

When preparing your pet for holiday photos, select costumes that ensure comfort and allow for easy movement. Since pets are naturally curious and drawn to shiny decorations, prioritize their safety by choosing shatterproof ornaments, steering clear of tinsel, and placing small or salt-dough ornaments high out of reach. After unwrapping gifts, promptly dispose of wrapping paper, bows, and strings, as they can pose choking hazards.

Keeping Pets Safe During Fall Hazards
With the arrival of fall, it's crucial to be aware of potential hazards that can affect our pets. As the days shorten, and we prepare for the winter months ahead, several dangers may arise.

To ensure your furry friends remain safe, familiarize yourself with some common seasonal risks, including:

-Mothballs
-Rodenticides
-Antifreeze
-Fall vegetables
-Mushrooms

If you suspect your pet has ingested any of these substances, it’s advisable to contact the Pet Poison Helpline at 855-764-7661 to assess whether immediate veterinary attention is needed.

Note: There is a fee of $89 when you call or chat with one of their expert staff members.
