Monty wrapped up his four-lesson Beginner Obedience package this week, and I couldn't be happier with the progress he's made.

His leash walking, place, downs, and recall have all come a long way. Like any dog, he still has room to grow, but that's the beauty of training. The foundation is there, and now it's all about continuing to practice and build on it.

The biggest part of training doesn't happen during our lessons. It happens at home, day after day, and I know Monty's family is going to keep putting in the work.

I can't wait to see where he is a few months from now.

Great job, Monty! I'm proud of you and your people.

Extra special shout out to one of my clients this weekend! 💚

This team entered their very first ever AKC trial this weekend (scent work) and not only did Delta qualify… she placed fourth!! All at just barely six months old.

We met a few months ago, and Delta began coming for day training once a week. When I brought up the idea of entering this trial & Sheri said yes, we really buckled down and shifted gears. Focusing on recognizing odor, reading body language changes, and beginning a solid TFR foundation.
I’m so incredibly proud of both of them for trusting the process, putting in the work, and stepping into the trial environment with confidence.

This is only the beginning for this team, and I genuinely can’t wait to see where they go from here!

Board & train season is in full swing over here at Outland K9!

Benson is currently staying with us for a board & train while he continues building confidence and learning how to be more independent from his brother. Some of you may remember his brother, Mozart! Benson is also available for adoption, and he’s been settling in while we work on helping him feel more confident navigating the world on his own. If interested in learning more on adopting him or Mozart, send me a quick message & I can put you into contact with his foster & rescue!

We also have Riley joining us today! Riley is here to work on strengthening his place command skills and learning better habits surrounding resource guarding with his dad’s belongings. We’ll be focusing heavily on structure, clarity, and building better decision making.

We also have one more board & train joining us later this week for our May/June spots! It’s going to be a busy few weeks around here, and I’m excited to share everyone’s progress along the way. 💚💚💚

June NASDA drop-ins are here!
These classes will be held at the Outland K9 facility in Noble across from City Hall at 323 South Main Street, Unit B. Flyer attached below.

NASDA (North American Sport Dog Association) is a scent work organization designed to highlight natural hunting and trailing instincts in dogs through a variety of search-based elements. These drop-ins are a great opportunity for both new and experienced teams to practice skills, build confidence, and prepare for trial environments.

We’re excited to have our local NASDA provisional judge coming in to teach these classes. Sign ups and questions can be directed to her at [email protected] or send us a message here for more information!

Hey everyone! Quick little update from me 💚

I just want to apologize for not being clearer about this sooner. That’s completely on me. With my schedule filling up and more inquiries coming in, I need to tighten up how I’m holding spots.

Going forward, invoices are due upon receipt and appointments are not confirmed until payment is received or other arrangements have been made. Any unpaid invoices 48 hours prior to your appointment will be considered canceled unless we’ve talked and set something up ahead of time.

I hate having to do this, but I want to make sure spots are going to those who are ready and that I’m being fair to everyone trying to get in.

I appreciate you all so much and your understanding means a lot 🤍

If you ever need anything or have questions, just reach out!

Goose Graduated! 🎓🎓🎓

Goose started with me in private lessons back in 2024 and just wrapped up his final week of an 8 week day training program.

In that time, he built a solid place, reliable recall, great door manners, and clean sits, downs, and gained SO MUCH confidence. But more than that, his family showed up, stayed consistent, and it shows.

I’m going to miss him terribly, but I couldn’t be more proud of everything he and his people have accomplished.

I’m hoping to see him out and about around town and maybe back here and there for overnight boarding or a group class or two.
Once an Outland dog, always part of the family 💚

Working “place” in the real world with Rane and this is exactly why it matters.
This was at a park in Norman during one of my kid’s soccer practices. We started on a rally-style walk, but the park filled up quickly with people and dogs. Instead of navigating chaos, I put her on place so I could keep eyes on my kiddo while keeping her out of walkways and away from dogs we don’t know.

Place isn’t just a “stay on a bed” command. It’s a management tool, a safety tool, and a clarity tool. It gives your dog a clear job in busy environments, helps prevent unwanted interactions, and allows you to control space without constant micromanaging.

When a dog truly understands place and it’s been generalized, you can use it anywhere. Parks, patios, sporting events, vet offices, front doors when guests come over. It creates calm, structure, and predictability in situations that would otherwise feel overwhelming.

In private lessons I give you the tools, the how, and the why. But sometimes seeing it in action makes it click.

Monty passed his evaluation and made it official, he’s part of the Outland family now. We’ll be jumping into private lessons next and getting to work building clarity, confidence, and a solid foundation for him and his owner. Excited to watch this team come together!

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted, and I appreciate your patience while we’ve been on the road a bit.
This past weekend we were at the Mid-Continent Kennel Club Dog Show in Tulsa with our Vallhunds for conformation and rally. It was a good one for the Outland crew.

Rane stepped into her first rally trial and earned her first Q, putting her officially on the path to her Rally Novice title. Bean took Best of Breed both days we were entered and showed beautifully in NOHS Regionals.

Back home and getting back into the swing of things:
• June Board & Trains are full
• One 3-week Board & Train spot available in July
• One Thursday Day Train spot opening in May

We won’t have a full group class schedule in May with the Oklahoma Summer Classic coming up, but we’ll be dropping a schedule for trial prep drop-ins soon.
Scent work, rally, and conformation drop-ins will all be on the lineup. As always, we need a minimum of 3 dogs per drop-in to run, so grab a spot early and bring a friend.

We’re also available for private trial prep sessions. Just send us a DM to schedule and we’ll get you on the calendar and work you in.
If you’ve been looking for a place to trial prep, this is it 🐾
