To close out this fun filled week, 🏹 Ragnar 🏹 (Boomer x Posie) gave me the time of my life. Yesterday, at the Vizsla Club of America National Specialty, Rags pulled off the last Award of Merit under judge Douglas Johnson. Today, at the SCVC Regional Specialty, judge Shelley Hennessy spun us around the ring and ultimately awarded Ragnar Best Opposite in an entry too beautiful and esteemed to describe with words.

We leave tomorrow for home feeling incredibly grateful for the privilege and opportunity to show up and play for the entirety of the nationals week! My Irondog and I look forward to a long night of rest and many more adventures together in and out of the ring.

Day 3 at 2026 VCA Nationals was OUR kind of day: scent work! Ragnar went 4/4 passes and even got a 1st (the only) placement in his first attempt at advanced HD. Literally, he found my stink!

Competing at the Master level, he got his first Qs in buried and interior. Ragnar finished his Master exterior element today, too.

Tomorrow is a much deserved day off for this versatile superstar. 💤

Day 2 of 2026 VCA Nationals was full! We competed on Obedience and Rally, where Ragnar earned his third and final Advanced Rally leg for a new title. He didn’t find either obedience or rally to be as thrilling as fetching for his Novice title, though.

Even in the heat at the end of the day, Ragnar bounded after his ball thrown 6 times under two different judges to demonstrate his eagerness to retrieve to hand.

Day 1 of 2026 VCA Nationals is complete, and Ragnar participated in his first ever agility trial. Though he didn’t strut out of the ring with any Qs, he appeared eager and happy to be involved.

I supported him in his FAST run, thinking we would stick to the jumps, tunnel, and A-frame, only to have him surprise me by volunteering to tackle the teeter. This was our win for the day, as it’s been the focus of our training these past few months (along with the weave poles.)

Expect nothing, and be rewarded with fun surprises! At the end of the day, he still gets to hang out with his octopus.

It’s been a whirlwind of a week, and my red dogs get tons of credit!

Last weekend, Ragnar 🏹 and I made the trip to Bakersfield, CA for the Vines and Wine Cluster with my mom. Though it was hot, Ragnar was hotter! He picked up one OH Group 2, two OH Group 1s, and a huge OH Reserve BIS. We also dabbled in scent work, where he earned his first Novice HD Q (and first place) and his first two Master exterior element Qs.

We came home so I could get some work done and attend at least one day of Wenatchee KC’s HD and detective scent work trial.

Ragnar 🏹 clicked off those last two Novice HD Qs for his title.

Sefi 💎 tried out Novice HD for the first time and earned her first two Qs.

Mustang 🐎 and I finally earned our first Detective Q under judge Donna Morgan Murray. What a great run I wish I had on video. Nevertheless, we’re grateful for a fun, quick morning of sniffing.

Now, Ragnar and I prepare to depart for vizsla nationals first thing tomorrow morning. Don’t start the party early; here we come!

…had a great (but hot) day in Bakersfield, CA at the first day of the Kern County Vines and Wine Cluster. In a small, but talented group of vizslas, Ms. Cheryl Paterson awarded him Select and OH.

We stayed until the end, where Ms. Lana Ferguson awarded him OHG1 and then, Reserve OH Best in Show. We’re grateful, and exhausted, too. Huge congratulations to all the winners today!

We stepped back into the Rally ring yesterday down in Pasco, WA.

Mustang 🐎 picked up another triple Q and some nice scores of 98s and a 99/100.

Ragnar 🏹 managed a 1st placement in the Advanced ring and has one more to go.

Sefi 💎 earned her second pass in Novice and placed 2nd with a score of 100/100.

Jocko 🏍️ stayed home and helped dad with firewood while he nurses a sore leg. I sure missed my buddy, but I hope to have him back in the ring soon! Meanwhile, he was recognized by the Vizsla Club of America for earning his Versatility Championship last year.

…is pooped! A long weekend of fun with great friends and good company for the Silver Falls KC show and TEVCO specialties.

On Saturday, Rags took Select at the TEVCO designated specialty under Kimberely Meredith, then OH Group 1 under Justin Dannenbring.

Today, Rags played repeat and was awarded Select by Camille McArdle, DVM. He later went on to OH Group 1 under Emily Fish and capped off the weekend with an OH Best in Show by Dr. McArdle. Thank you for the nod!

My cheer squad and fan club was everything, especially so late in the day on the last day. Thank you to everyone who cheered!
