Rode sweet Annie tonight. 🤍 Last week I noticed a lump high up on her right hind/hip area assuming it’s a hematoma, probably courtesy of her sassy pasture sister. 😂

It’s gone down quite a bit, so I rode her tonight. She didn’t want to canter, which isn’t like her at all, so I didn’t push it and figured she’s still a little sore. When I got off, the area was pretty hot to the touch, so I hosed her off, put some liniment on it, and gave her some Bute.

Here’s hoping she’s feeling 100% soon we’ve got a camping trip to get ready for! 🐴🤞🏼❤️

Miss Shania has officially joined the egg-laying crew! 🤎🎉

That makes Dottie, Jolene, Wynonna, Faith AND now Shania laying! 🙌🏼

My little chicken mama heart is so happy. 😂🤍 I swear checking the nesting boxes has become the highlight of my day!

Faith has officially joined the egg-laying club! 🤎🙌

Our sweet little Silkie girl laid her first egg, and of course I’m ridiculously excited about it. 😂 It never gets old finding that first tiny egg!

We’re excited to announce that Wynonna laid her very first egg yesterday and another one today!

Watching our flock grow and reach these milestones never gets old. Every little egg feels like a big accomplishment, and we’re especially excited to add these beautiful cream-colored eggs to our growing egg basket.

Way to go, Wynonna! We’d say you’re officially earning your keep around here.

Another little milestone for Snapple today. ❤️🐴

Today she learned to “pick up” at the mounting block! She’s an incredibly fast learner and tries so hard to figure out what you’re asking.

The first video is our last attempt using just the lead rope and asking her to step over no whip. The second video shows the teaching process with the whip to help explain the cue. The goal is to keep practicing until she’ll move over to the block with nothing more than a simple hand motion.

It’s always fun watching a horse start to connect the dots, and Snap is proving every day just how willing and intelligent she is. So proud of this sweet girl and excited to keep building on the little things that make a great partner.

Night two in the books for James and Snapple!

Tonight Annie and I joined them for a little ride, and what started as a quiet afternoon quickly turned into an unexpected lesson night with Syd and Alyssa too. Sometimes the best evenings are the ones you don’t plan.

Watching James gain confidence with Snap is so cool, as I am still a worrier. lol. They’re already starting to figure each other out!

Couldn’t let the day end without a first ride update on James and Snap. 🤎🐴

We had our first little lesson today, and I can officially report that Snap is a certified good girl. She took great care of her new rider and made me so proud.

As for James… I have to admit, he’s a little more nerve-wracking to teach than most of my students. 😂 I was probably more nervous than he was! But he did a great job, listened well, and every ride will build more confidence.

I can’t wait to watch these two. This is just the beginning of a whole lot of memories. ❤️ Brooke Cohrs

Another first around Circle C Acres! 🥚🤍

Today, Dottie my California White officially laid her very first egg! 🎉

I had a feeling she may have secretly laid one outside while they were free-ranging a few days ago, so I kept the girls in for the last couple of days to encourage her to use the nesting boxes… and it worked!

That makes two of my girls officially contributing now first Jolene surprised us with a blue egg, and now Dottie has given us her first perfect white egg.

It’s funny how excited a simple egg can make you, but if you know… you know.

Now we wait on my six Silkies to decide it’s their turn! 😂🥚 I have a feeling they’re going to keep me guessing a while.

Egg two and three and caught the suspect in action. When I originally bought Jolene, I was not sold that she was the breed Easter Egger as she does not look like most, I was so excited to see that she did in fact lay blue eggs. So today really confirmed it.
