Come join us at the June 13th Low cost Vaccination Clinic!

Registration is open for our June 13th vaccination clinic! Please read the ENTIRE post! There are updates and FREE products!

1) We are late posting this this month as we have been SWAMPED with kitten season and taking care of dozens of injured strays. These clinics fund this care we provide in the commmunity. However, we are still in need of donations as the demand currently exceeds the funds. PLEASE consider donating on our website, or asking to donate any amount in the notes on your registration form and we will add it to your order.

2) Some people have already signed up without the announcement which is a-ok! Please be FLEXIBLE on specific time requests , especially mornings that will likely book up this weekend.

3) We have FREE NextGard Plus for small and up to 65 dogs. Your pet must have had a heartworm test in the last 3 months at your regular vet and be signed up for one service (heartworm test for $20 is enough) so we can dispense it to you as an examination by us is required. You MUST request this product in your registration or via email 2 days before the clinic. If you have attended one of our Vaccine Clinics in the last 3 months AND got a heartworm test with us, you may email request some for you to pick up. Thanks to the manufacturer BI and Greater Good Charities!!

4) We have FREE NexGard Combo for any kitten under 3 months of age receiving any service. This is a prescription product and requires an examination by us.

5) Come only ON TIME!! If you are a bit early or a bit late it disrupts our schedule. We like to be efficient and on time. If you arrive 5 mins or more before or after your time, you will be turned away.

6) IMPORTANT!!! There’s usually ONE PERSON that complains about how we operate the driveway at our clinics. You MUST be in your car and STAY in your car. We have ZERO TOLERANCE for entitled, rude behavior. If you behave disrespectfully, you will be banned from future clinics if you give any staff member grief. We volunteer our time and Focus Veterinary Care donates their staff payroll costs to provide this service to our community. Just one person being difficult is hurtful and disrupts our day. Most people are so happy and grateful we offer this to our community and we are happy to! However, this is the ONE AND ONLY WARNING that you will be banned from BOTH the clinics AND Focus Veterinary Care, forever, if you can’t behave respectfully.

They are correct!! Don’t wait until March for a spay/abort, or April begging for us to take your kittens. There’s no excuse to not spay and neuter a cat over 3 months of age. Do it now! Keep that kitten / cat healthy and your stress level down. Males $29 females $69 includes FVRCP vaccination, Rabies vaccine $10 extra.

https://focusvetcare.com/make-appointment/

Your unaltered female is about to go into heat and try to escape. If she gets out, the neighborhood strays will be waiting for her. She will be cornered and usually mated with by numerous males. They will also be sharing their diseases with each other because unfixed cats are almost always unvaccinated.

She may or may not find her way back home. Either way, she will be pregnant. If she doesn’t find her way home and manages to navigate the outside world, she is now just another stray cat.

➡️ THIS CAN HAPPEN AT JUST 4-5 MONTHS OLD.

PLEASE protect your pets from this. Ask for help if you need it. If you ask for our help, please be prepared to get all cats fixed, not just 1 or 2 and leave others unaltered. We are here to do thorough work helping cats.

Post specific to males coming soon 🩵

With the rising cost of veterinary care, it now takes a community to save a pet.

Meet Mallie. The most adorable, sweet 2yr old Belgian Mallinois you’ll ever meet! She came to us on November 3rd needing lifesaving surgery for pyometra. Pyometra is an infection of the uterus that is usually fatal if not treated. The average emergency cost for this service is $6,000-$8,000 or more. Spaying your dog prevents this condition and with us is just $199. So how did we get here?

* 💰Veterinary care cost has skyrocketed in the past ten years. Do you know how much the most common surgeries your pet may need currently cost? Are you prepared? Do you have $8,000 readily available even if you have reimbursable pet insurance to save your pet? We see plenty of insured pets for this surgery, but the client doesn’t have the money to pay up front and wait to be reimbursed.
* 🐶 “Pyometra only happens in dirty, old dogs and cats” Do you know the average age of pets we see needing pyometra surgery is 3 years old? The youngest this year was 7 months old! Spay them young unless you have $8,000 ready to spend!
* “I’ll just make payments to save my dog or cat.” Call your veterinarian and ask if they offer payments. Call the ER you’re planning to use. Chances are, they don’t, and you will be faced with the devastating decision of economic euthanasia. Some may offer third party payment options like CareCredit, but you’ll need excellent credit to get approved, and CareCredit fees to the facility are extremely high. Those costs can only be absorbed by facilities that have a large profit margin. It won’t be affordable care.
* “My veterinarian or ER will give me options besides their price or euthanasia” Reality is, most don’t. Even when they know there are lower cost options. Thankfully Mallie was seen by Urgent Vet of Lexington who DO give affordable solutions, as do MedVet of Lexington, Veterinary Specialists Partners and Metropolitan in Louisville. We VALUE their collaboration, expertise and empathy. Their costs are higher because their overhead is higher, but they don’t forget that saving the pet is their priority, even when it means having another facility do the procedure instead. Ask your ER or veterinarian what options they give in this circumstance. Thank them and support them if they offered you other options.
* “Only people who don’t really love their pets wouldn’t save them” WRONG. Our clients LOVE their pets. They are hard working people who give their pets an awesome home, just like Mallie! They just don’t have $8,000 ready to spend at a moments notice. Do you?

Mallie made a full recovery. Her wonderful owners, enjoying Mallie’s continued companionship, brought us the most beautiful bouquet and basket of chocolates and fruits yesterday to say thank you. Together as a community we saved Mallie and we are thankful for all those who made it happen. Mallie, her caregiver, Urgent Care of Lexington for suggesting us, BISSELL Pet Foundation for contributing $60 to the cost of a spay, Veterinarians to the Rescue for subsidizing non-surgical costs. Mallie will now enjoy the holidays with her family ❤️🐶❤️

🚨 Kitten Season Round 3 🚨

We’re in the middle of our third wave of kitten season here in Kentucky, and to be honest — rescues are exhausted. Every day, we’re flooded with requests to take in yet another litter of kittens, and it’s heartbreaking because there just aren’t enough foster homes or resources to keep up. 💔

Here’s the hard truth: one unaltered cat can lead to dozens of kittens in just a year — and those kittens grow up and keep multiplying. It’s an exponential problem, and it’s overwhelming shelters and rescues everywhere.

✨ Spaying and neutering saves lives. ✨
If you need help getting your pets fixed, please reach out. We would much rather assist with the cost of spay/neuter now than face another round of homeless kittens later.

Let’s break the cycle — together. 🐾
