It’s National Veterinary Technician Week!! This incredible group of humans (including those who have come before and have been added to the team since!) deserves to be celebrated every day of the year, but we will certainly take this opportunity to give special recognition.

These wonderful Vet Techs make every day in our office run as smoothly as possible - they are taking temperatures, holding and loving on your fur babies during exams and shots, taking x-rays, collecting blood samples, cleaning teeth, monitoring anesthesia, cleaning kennels, giving treats, expressing a**l glands, continuously checking in on hospitalized patients, filling prescriptions and giving medications, sterilizing instruments, vacuuming floors, and trying their very hardest to keep Dr. Harris and Dr. Lindner on track! Quite frankly, they are super heroes!!

Please help us celebrate our beloved Vet Techs this week by sharing a word of encouragement, a story of how they have impacted you and your pet, or a message of gratitude!

Due to the approaching hurricane, our office will be CLOSED on Friday, October 9 to ensure that our team has the opportunity to secure their homes before the storm comes in and keep everyone safe!

We will reopen on Monday, 10/12. Thank you for your understanding and please stay safe! We are grateful for each and every one of you! 💙🩵

We are keeping a close eye on the incoming storm to determine if our schedule needs to change on Friday for the safety of our team and patients.

*** If your pet may be in need of a medication refill or food by the weekend, please let us know TODAY so that we can have it ready for pick up tomorrow!***

It is with profound excitement that we introduce you to Dr. Melia Lindner - the newest member of the Bluewater Bay Animal Hospital team! Dr. Lindner joins us as a full-time associate veterinarian who will begin on Tuesday, July 7.

Dr. Harris will be lightening his load just a bit over the next few weeks as he provides training and mentorship to Dr. Lindner, giving her the opportunity to become familiar with the flow of our office, charting system and equipment, and establish a clientele (meaning we can now accept more new patients/clients!)

As a Shalimar native, Dr. Melia Lindner is honored to return to her hometown and serve the community that first inspired her passion for veterinary medicine. She earned both her Bachelor of Science degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University. During her time at LSU, Dr. Lindner was also a member of the university’s beach volleyball program from 2018 to 2023, an experience that strengthened her teamwork, dedication, and perseverance while also providing her life-long friendships.

Dr. Lindner’s professional interests include feline medicine, neurology, and soft tissue surgery. She is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s individual needs while building lasting relationships with pets and their families.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Lindner enjoys playing beach volleyball, working out, and spending time outdoors soaking up the sunshine. She is excited to be back home and looks forward to taking care of your fur babies for years to come.
