The hardest part of boarding usually isn't your dog's stay. It's the goodbye.

We know the instinct is to linger, give one more hug, and tell them everything will be okay. But dogs read our energy closely, and a long, emotional goodbye can accidentally make them think something's wrong. The dogs who adjust the quickest are the ones whose owners keep it short, calm, and upbeat. A quick "see you soon," a leash handoff, and they're on their way.

Planning a trip and stressing about what to do with your dog? Take a breath. A well prepared pup settles into boarding much faster than you'd think.

The biggest thing we see owners forget? Vaccines need to be current a full week before drop off, not the morning of. Bordetella, rabies, distemper, canine influenza, plus a f***l test within the last 6 months. Checking your dog's records now can save you from a last minute scramble. And because Pleasant Paws is a full veterinary facility, your dog can receive vaccines or see the veterinarian during their stay if needed. It gives pet parents peace of mind knowing a vet is here if anything comes up.

If this is your dog's first stay with us, book a daycare evaluation ahead of time. It helps your pup get comfortable with our team and lets us get to know their personality before boarding.
