I actually forgot about this one. This article is from last year, but seeing Focus K9 featured in The New York Times is definitely something worth looking back on.

I was given the opportunity to share my perspective on working dogs and what genetics, temperament and drive can mean when selecting a dog for a specific job.

For a company built from a genuine obsession with understanding dogs and becoming better at this craft, having our knowledge recognized on a platform like this means a lot.

And while Focus K9 is no longer located in Stamford, you can now find us in Newtown, Connecticut, continuing to grow, train, and push the standard forward.

Proud to have Focus K9 be a part of this year’s Dream Ride Police K9 Expo in Farmington, CT.

Our team had the opportunity to design and set up the environmental portion of the competition, creating challenges that tested each K9’s confidence, stability, environmental soundness, and ability to perform under pressure. We also had the honor of judging each dog and handler team as they worked through the course.

It was an incredible opportunity to work alongside Police K9 teams from different departments and see these dogs and handlers put their training to work.

At Focus K9, we believe a strong working dog needs more than drive it needs a clear head, environmental confidence, and a capable handler on the other end of the leash.

Thank you to Dream Ride and everyone involved for allowing us to contribute to such a great event supporting the Police K9 community.
