Meet Max and Niko! They came to us with raised red lesions on their eyes. After examination they were diagnosed with Pannus. Pannus, also known as Chronic Superficial Keratitis, is an immune-mediated eye disease that can spread across the surface of the cornea. Pannus is very common in German Shepherds. After being treated with anti-inflammatory eye drops, Max and Nikos disease is now under control! They will need to be on long-term eye drops to prevent further risks of flare-ups in the future. We are so happy they are doing great!

Our clients and patients at VEC PA have been wonderful, and it is a privilege to help care for the pets who mean so much to their families. 💙

We’re grateful to the families who trust us with their pet’s eye care and to the local veterinary community for welcoming us as a resource for specialty ophthalmology care.

Meet Miss Annie!

Miss Annie came to VEC PA with symptoms that are commonly seen in short-nosed dogs. Her eyelids don’t fully close, and some of the tiny hairs near the inner corners of her eyes rub against the surface of the eye. Over time, this can lead to irritation, extra tearing, and tear staining.

The reassuring news is that Miss Annie’s corneas are healthy! Dr. Yeh recommended an eye ointment to help support her tear film, improve comfort, and keep the surface of her eyes as healthy as possible.

For pets like Miss Annie, eye care is often about finding the right plan for long-term comfort. If you’ve noticed tearing, irritation, or changes in your pet’s eyes, our team is here to help you understand what’s going on and what options may support their comfort.

Pets cannot tell us when their vision feels different, but their behavior may offer clues.

Bumping into objects, hesitating on stairs, acting startled, or having difficulty finding toys or treats can be signs of vision changes.

If you notice changes in your pet’s eyes or behavior, VEC PA can help evaluate what may be going on.

Sweet 16-year-old Gigi handled her visit with Dr. Yeh like a pro!

Gigi was diagnosed with conjunctivitis in both eyes and a corneal ulcer in her right eye, which means she had inflammation around her eyes, along with a small wound on the clear surface of one eye.

Her treatment plan is focused on calming the inflammation, helping the ulcer heal, and keeping her as comfortable as possible.

Dr. Yeh also noted some age-related lens changes, including nuclear sclerosis and cataracts, which we’ll continue to keep an eye on over time.

We’re so glad we could help Gigi and her family better understand what’s happening and how to support her eye health moving forward.
