Meet Star & Sam ⭐🐾

Some bonds are simply meant to last a lifetime—and that’s exactly the case for Star and Sam. These 10-year-old siblings come from a loving home where they received plenty of care and support. Now, they’re looking for a new family willing to open their hearts to both of them.

Star and Sam are a bonded pair whose personalities complement each other perfectly. Star is gentle, reserved, and quietly affectionate, while Sam brings plenty of goofy charm and outgoing energy. Together, they help each other shine, and their loving, playful nature is even brighter when they’re side by side.

Senior dogs have so much love left to give, and these two prove that companionship only grows stronger with age. If you’re considering adoption, please consider keeping this incredible duo together—they’ve spent a lifetime as best friends and deserve to continue their journey together.

Come meet Star and Sam at 201 Government Services Drive in Newton for a meet and greet today!

Meet Bobbie 🐾

At just 2 years old, Bobbie has already experienced more than many cats do in a lifetime. Before arriving at Catawba County Animal Services, this beautiful spayed female survived life as a stray—learning to be cautious while fending for herself outdoors.

Since entering our care, Bobbie has been discovering the comforts of indoor life and the kindness of people. She loves spending time in her tunnels, basking in the warm morning sunshine, and is slowly learning that affection and safety go hand in hand. Watching her grow more confident each day has been truly rewarding.

Bobbie is spayed, up to date on her current vaccines, and ready to find a patient, loving home where she can continue to blossom at her own pace. If you’re looking to give a deserving cat a second chance, Bobbie may be the perfect companion for you.

Come meet Bobbie at Catawba County Animal Services today and help her begin the next chapter of her story. 🐱💕

To whom it may concern, my name is Nova.

I'm approximately 1 ½ years old and weigh 61 pounds. (Don't judge me. It just gives you more to handle). I came to this facility as an owner surrender. When I came here, I was terrified. Big place. New people. A lot of dogs. I was very scared and nervous.

But then a nice human took me into her office and let me calm down, take a deep breath, and get away from all of that noise from the kennels. Eventually, I got used to a few people, and enjoyed the attention. (Guess there are some good people in this place after all). There were also people called volunteers who took me for walks and I really appreciated that. (I'm housebroken, and I really needed one of those grass play yards. This girl was not used to holding it for that long. I was about to burst). After more time and attention, I got my first check-up and first round of shots. (They said it wouldn't hurt...but they lied. I whined just a little bit). But now I am up to date on all of my vaccinations, and I am heartworm negative.(Yay me!!).

I have had my spay surgery and I am available to be adopted. Now I am in a section of kennels with other dogs who are also available. They are a bunch of nice dogs. There is Zeus who is very handsome. Milo is over there acting a little crazy. Too much energy. And the very long- term dogs, Sampson and Ella, well they have been here for almost a year. ( I really don't want to be here that long. They are so sad). But I have hope. And I'm usually quiet, but the neighbor beside of me, Bella...she has an attitude with me. Always barking in my general direction. ( And girl...I ain't playin'! I give her attitude right back).

Anywho, I'm doing really good now. I'm healthy. I'm happy. And there are plenty of humans who are nice to me. Now I just need my own person who will take me home and love me. (I had that once and I miss the attention). So, if anyone is reading this, please come by and meet me. I really am a good girl and would love to be a part of your family. I hope to see you soon.

Love, Nova.

"Behind every kennel door is a soul waiting to show you what unconditional love really means"

Our long term resident dogs are the prime examples of beautiful souls searching for their fur-ever families.

These dogs have been here for quite some time. Time and time again, they have watched dogs get adopted. They watch as other dogs leave the building, while never even getting a chance.

Shelter life can be highly stressful on any dog after being in this environment for months. Stress is starting to show and they need you now more than ever.

All these pups are considered long term. They have been looked over, passed by, and haven't had a chance.

There has to be the perfect person or family out there, right? If you think you could be their next big adventure, stop by and meet them.

They have all been altered, microchipped, are up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, PLUS their adoption fees are sponsored. What could be better?
