Reintroducing Nova!

Nova is a beautiful 1.5 year old black mouth cur/ Labrador retriever mix weighing around 60 pounds! She came to us as an owner surrender about six months ago and has been waiting patiently for a family to call her own.

Nova would do best in a home where she is the only dog as she has shown some reactivity towards other dogs in the past. She also seems fearful around young children, so a home with older kids or adults only may be the best fit for her.

Although she has some quirks, miss Nova is the sweetest girl who adores attention. Whether she is running around, or just being by your side, Nova is content. She LOVES treats and will never turn down a snack. While she does not know many tricks, she does know how to sit pretty for a tasty treat! Nova is such a smart girl who is eager to learn. Her smarts, along with being highly treat motivated, should make it easy to teach her new tricks!

Nova is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and heart worm negative! If you think you could be the right match for Nova, come meet her! We are open Tuesday- Saturday from 11am-6pm!

This pretty girl is Sheena. She is one of our newest dogs who has been made available for adoption.

She is approximately 11 months old and weighs 47 pounds. She is spayed, microchipped, has all age-appropriate vaccinations, and is heartworm negative. She seems very dog-friendly but meet and greets with family dogs are required.

Sheena walks pretty well on a leash and is trying very hard to be housebroken. But she is still in her puppy phase, so training and a little patience is necessary. Sheena came to us as a stray, so we don’t know anything about her background. We don’t know if she is good with cats, kids, or new people. But her age and playfulness probably indicates that she would be fine.

Sheena can’t wait to get extra attention and hopefully, a new home.

Looking for a smart, sweet husky? Chief just might be your guy!

Chief was brought to us as a stray around a month ago, so we don't know anything about his previous life before us. We think he's around 4 years old from looking at his teeth and temperament, but he could be a little older or younger than that. He is an incredibly smart and energetic dog that loves to play and run around. He enjoys puzzle treats and frozen kong toys, as well as anything that will keep his mind busy.

He's a little on the chunky size at 75 lb, but he doesn't let that stop him. From what we've seen, he also seems to be housebroken! He leaves his kennels pretty clean and knows to potty outside. He might need a little bit of time to get used to it while he's in a new home, but that's to be expected with a new dog in a new environment.

If Chief sounds like the dog for you, come by to check him out! We're open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 6 pm and adoption fees are only 5 dollars!!

Say hello to Angelica and Starlight, two sisters who are looking for their forever home.

These two sweet girls are possibly Black Mouth Cur mixes, approximately 9 months old, and weigh around 34 pounds. They came into our facility as strays and are currently trying their best to adjust to shelter life.

They are getting better at walking on a leash and becoming housebroken. Training takes time, and these young girls are learning through volunteer repetition. We have an extraordinary group of volunteers who are working with most of our shelter dogs daily, in order to give them their proper enrichment they need.

Angelica and Starlight are ready to find their forever home. They are spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and have all age-appropriate vaccinations.

They just need a home.

Boomer is a charismatic, affectionate, and energetic 1-year-old neutered male who is ready to turn someone’s ordinary days into extraordinary adventures. He arrived at Catawba County Animal Services as a stray, but this handsome guy clearly has some puppy training under his belt!

Meet Castor!

Castor is a super sweet black labrador retriever/siberian husky mix. He weighs around 54 lbs and has the most beautiful blue eyes. Castor is super playful and energetic, but would love to snuggle with you when he's done playing. He has very good leash manners after he gets over the excitement of getting to go on a walk, and he loves all kinds of affection and treats.

Castor is up to date on all of his age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered. We do require a meet and greet with any other household dogs that you have.

🐾 Meet Socks! 🐾

Say hello to Socks, a very handsome 1 year old mixed breed! Socks came to us as a stray and is now looking for a family who can help him learn and be the best boy he can be!

Socks has A LOT of puppy energy and is always ready to spring into action! He loves to play, whether it’s with toys or with people, he is a happy boy! He does well on walks with our volunteers and is currently working on learning his manners. He does have some puppy tendencies such as being a little mouthy when excited and not being fully house broken. The good news is he is a very smart boy who is eager to please for a tasty treat. Socks would benefit from someone who understands he is still young and needs some guidance!

Meet Ava!

Meet Ava, a sweet and silly 5-year-old girl looking for a family to call her own! Ava is spayed, up to date on all her vaccinations, and heartworm negative.

Ava was owner surrendered by her previous family because she did not get along with the cats in the household. Her family loved her and described her as a great dog who did well with children and the other dog in the home. Because of her history with cats, Ava will need a cat-free home.

This funny girl loves running around the play yard and showing off her zoomies! She also tries to make friends with the other dogs who walk by her kennel.

She appears interested in making doggy friends, but if you have other dogs at home, please bring them in for a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone gets along.

Ava has lots of love and personality to share, and she is ready to find her forever family! Could you be the one to give this goofy girl the happy ending she deserves?

Meet Oreo and Felix! 🐾

Oreo and Felix are two very sweet boys who came in together as owner surrenders. Both boys weigh around 11 pounds and they each have their own unique personalities that make them special!

Felix is a little more reserved when meeting new people. However, once he gets comfortable with you, his sweet side starts to shine! He is content curling up in a bed or loving up on you for attention!

Oreo is more outgoing and LOVES the attention. He loves sprawling out in his bed, tummy up for rubs or chasing a toy around and playing!

Both boys are neutered, microchipped, and up to date on their vaccinations! Although the boys came in together, they do not need to go to the same home. Oreo and Felix both have so much love to give and can’t wait to find their own homes!

PUPDATE - ADOPTED!!!

This handsome 4-year-old boy, Jojo, is running out of time. He’s been waiting for months upon months but no one has chosen him. Unless someone steps up this week, his story could end soon. Shelter life is unfortunate and is not a cozy couch or warm bed. It's not where he needs to be.

Four years old. That’s it. Four years of life — and we’re about to tell this dog there’s no more time.

Jojo doesn’t need a miracle. He needs a person willing to open their home and give him a chance.

Jojo is a happy, playful dog. He LOVES stuffed toys and running around in a fenced area. Jojo is full of energy but what dog doesn’t when they are in a kennel almost 24/7??? He also has the happiness to match his energy. He just needs someone who will spend time every day letting him get exercise.
