On consignment
LITTLE SENORITA ✨

2020 AQHA Mare
14.2 HH. (Not officially tapped yet)
LOCATION- Deer park WA

If you’re looking for a young mare with the brains, pedigree, and potential to make something special, Senorita deserves a look.

Senorita is a 6-year-old sweetheart looking for her forever person. She is very lightly started with less than 30 days of training — the riding video shown is only her THIRD ride under saddle and her FIRST ride carrying a bit.

What has impressed me most about this mare isn’t just how quickly she’s progressing — it’s her mind. She is willing, sensible, wants to please, and takes new things in stride. She has the kind of brain that makes you excited to see what she’ll become with time and consistency.
Would make a phenomenal cow horse.

⭐ Very lightly started — blank slate without a bunch of miles
⭐ Quiet, willing & eager to learn
⭐ Naturally sensible with a mind of gold
⭐ Excellent for the farrier
⭐ Currently barefoot
⭐️ Easy keeper
⭐ Tons of potential to take in whatever direction her new person chooses

Cons
-She does have a small superficial scar on her right front leg that does not affect her soundness or performance.
-Can be hard to catch but is food motivated

She is green and will need someone capable of continuing her education.
🎇Price will go up with further training.

Let’s talk desensitization.
Unfortunately it is a very controversial thing among “trainer”.

This horse is a prime example of why I believe so strongly in starting horses properly, slowly, and with a solid foundation.

He’s 6 years old and was sold as a “broke,” fancy-buttons, been-there-done-that gelding. But after he bucked my wife off twice, I decided it was time to forget what he was supposed to know and take him all the way back to the basics.

First on the agenda: desensitization and learning how to think through pressure.

He is an extremely reactive and sensitive horse, and based on what we’re seeing, there are some pretty significant holes in his foundation.

With horses like him, I don’t expect them to immediately plant their feet and tolerate something they’re genuinely unsure of. I give them the freedom to move their feet, process what is happening, and search for the right answer. Movement is allowed. Disengagement and disrespect are not.

The goal isn’t to make him “put up with” scary things. The goal is to teach him that when he feels pressure, fear, or uncertainty, his first response doesn’t have to be panic, flight, or explosion. He can stay engaged, look to his handler, think through the situation, and eventually find relaxation.

We aren’t just desensitizing him to an object — we’re teaching him how to handle pressure.

I’ll be documenting his progress as we break things back down, rebuild the holes in his foundation, and show what can happen when you slow down and give a horse the time and tools to truly understand what’s being asked of him.

Fancy buttons don’t mean much if the foundation underneath them is missing.

Teaching a horse body mechanics and collection is less about “putting their head down” and more about building a strong, balanced athlete from the inside out.

Just 2 days ago this horse had no Idea on how to properly use his body. He’d brace against the bit and dive into his face and completely disengage his hind end.

We build forward energy, then teach the horse to engage its hind end, lift its back, and become lighter in the front. Collection isn’t about slowing down, it’s about controlling and holding that energy so the horse moves with strength, softness, and responsiveness.

I got asked to halter brake this 4 year old. She has had some “past trauma” and has been untouched. This is video is from session number 2. First session was just establishing comfort with me in her presence/bubble and not wanting to run away anytime she got uncomfortable. Session 2 We worked on human contact not being scary and scratches are actually pretty nice.

“Bomb proofing” this gelding. Anytime I start working a client horse I will take them back to basics. Pretending I know nothing about them or the “training” they have had in their past.

First ride on this 4 year old filly.
Ground work is essential to any good horse and the platform to a solid start.
first ride should be calm, relaxed, and non eventful.
