Oregon is seeing an unusually high number of rabies-positive bats this year. As of September 1, 30 bats had tested positive across the state—already exceeding Oregon’s previous annual record.

Most bats are healthy and beneficial, but pet parents should still take a few precautions:

🦇 Never touch a bat or allow your pet to approach one.
💉 Keep your pet’s rabies vaccination current—even if they live indoors.
📞 If your pet may have had contact with a bat, keep everyone away, safely contain it if possible, and call a veterinarian or local public-health authority right away.

Not sure whether your pet is current on their rabies vaccine? Give us a call at 541-265-7448.

Meet our August Pet of the Month: Cooks Dog McCandles — AKA “Dog”

Dog is a nearly three-year-old yellow Lab, professional cheese-tax collector, devoted lapdog, and unofficial house watchdog, who's convinced that the passenger seat belongs to him. Honestly, we’re not going to be the ones to tell him otherwise.

Congratulations, Dog! 💛
