We have pets and understand that a loss is very emotional. Peninsula Pet Cremations is a 24-hour pet cremation and memorial service owned by Altmeyer Funeral Home and operated by our licensed funeral directors. We have dedicated our lives to helping those who have lost someone dear. Realizing that when a pet dies we lose a friend and companion, a part of our family, we have extended our expertise

to local families and their animal companions. Being pet owners and animal lovers ourselves, we recognize the special bond and relationship we share with our pets. Because they are our family members and dear friends, it is only right that we treat their passing with dignity and respect. With that in mind, we offer the following sensitive options for pet owners:

· We will pick up and transport your pet to our facility.

· If you choose cremation, we will give you a certificate of private cremation.

· We can be reached any time, day or night, and a Pet Service Counselor is available 24 hours a day.

· We will treat you and your pet with dignity and respect.

· We will offer a wide range of urns, markers, memorials, and pet caskets for you to choose from.

Three cheers for the returning champ!

We love supporting the Peninsula SPCA, especially their annual Tailgate party!

Many of you may recognize Ziggy Stardust, our unofficial "comfort pug," who took home the win in the Small Dog Dash last year.

This year, Ziggy was awarded second place and we couldn't be prouder of the little fella!

Honoring the lives and love our pets leave behind 🤍

On April 17, a pet memorial service was held at Altmeyer Funeral Home – Denbigh Chapel for Peninsula Pet Cremations. Families gathered to remember their beloved companions and share in a moment of reflection, comfort, and connection.

We were grateful to have Katrina Gay, VHS Hospice Bereavement Counselor, join us as our guest speaker. Her words offered gentle guidance and reassurance to those navigating the journey of grief after the loss of a cherished pet.

Thank you to everyone who attended and allowed us to be part of such a meaningful tribute.

Earlier this week, one of our interns, Katie, met with the Newport News Police Department K9 unit.

K9 Shiloh from the NN Sheriff Department was put to the test to find her based on her scent left on a pen. 🐾🔍

The officer explained that tracking outside is way harder since the "scent" doesn’t stick as easily. That’s why you can see Shiloh hugging the walls, using every little clue to track her down. 🧭 Plus, the strong winds coming off the James River made it even trickier, but despite all that, she found her SUPER fast! 💨

Several other K9 officers were also in training with their handlers. Pictured are MPO Wright and Taz, Officer Childs and Balko, Officer Granville and Shiloh & Officer Henley and Roscoe.

Impressive teamwork, and we couldn’t be more amazed by the K9 officers and their "humans"!
