Ever notice a neighborhood cat sporting a small flat tip on its left ear? 🐾

That tiny notch is actually a major badge of honor! It means that cat went through TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), which is the gold standard for humane community cat care.

Here is what that tipped ear tells you:

* The cycle ends here: No more continuous cycles of unwanted litters being born outdoors.

* Healthier neighbors: The cat is vaccinated against rabies, spayed or neutered, and living a calmer life without the stress and fighting associated with mating behaviors.

* A stable community: TNR stabilizes outdoor colonies naturally, allowing community cats to thrive while numbers decrease over time.

Did you know: Pyometra is a serious bacterial infection of the uterus that can occur in unspayed female cats, often after they’ve been in heat. As the infection progresses, the uterus can fill with infected fluid… and in severe cases, it can lead to systemic infection, rupture, shock, or even death.

And cats being cats… they don’t always make it obvious that something is wrong. 😼

Signs can include lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, increased thirst or urination, and vaginal discharge, but some cats show very few noticeable symptoms.

BUT GOOD NEWS: Spaying prevents pyometra by removing the uterus and ovaries.

One more reason we’re so passionate about spaying and neutering cats… not just for population control, but for their health, too. ❤️
