Coweta County Animal Services is again asking for help to save dogs from euthanization.

Overcrowding at the Coweta County Animal Shelter has put four healthy, adoptable animals at risk of euthanization, which is typically reserved for very sick or aggressive animals.

The euthanasia deadline is set for Tuesday, June 16, at 5 p.m.. The dogs still at risk are Storm, Breezy, Hagrid and Darwin.

The shelter is currently over capacity with 137 dogs, prompting staff to put out an emergency call for adoptions or fosters. To avoid euthanization, all 4 dogs on the list must be adopted or the general population must drop down to 121 before the June 16 deadline.

Adoptions are free for Coweta County employees, military veterans and seniors 65 or older. Heartworm-positive dogs are also free to adopt.

All other adoption fees at the Coweta County Animal Shelter are $25. That fee includes spay or neuter surgery, the first round of vaccines and an implanted microchip that helps identify the pet if it should ever be lost.

The Coweta County Animal Shelter is located at 91 Selt Road in Newnan. Adoption hours are 10 a.m. to noon and 1-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Animals up for adoption can be seen onwww.24petconnect.com and on The Newnan Times-Herald’s “Pet of the Week” page each Wednesday.

For more information, call the Coweta County Animal Shelter at 770-254-3735.

Meet Calvin! 🐾 for adoption!

Calvin is a handsome, affectionate young dog looking for his forever family. At approximately 2 years old, he has been fully vetted, neutered, and is current on NexGard and Heartgard.

Calvin was rescued in Newnan and quickly proved himself to be a wonderful companion. He is incredibly sweet, well-mannered, and loves being around people. He enjoys snuggling, sleeping on the bed, and spending time with his humans. He would make an excellent family dog and would likely thrive in a home with children who can match his playful energy and give him plenty of love and attention.

Calvin gets along well with other dogs and loves to play. Because he is a larger dog, he can sometimes be a little too enthusiastic with smaller dogs and doesn’t always realize his own size. He has a big heart and would never intentionally hurt another animal, but he would do best in a home with dogs his size or as an only dog where he has room to run and play.

Calvin is smart, eager to please, and responds well to guidance. He is looking for an active family that can give him the exercise, companionship, and affection he deserves.

If you’re searching for a loyal best friend who loves adventures, cuddles, and being part of the family, Calvin may be the perfect match for you. ❤️🐶

Today was magical. A collective day with the most wonderful people, co-regulating with humans and animals through community, laughter, joy, and healing energy. Kat helped regulate us through the earth, the horses helped bring us peace and harmony, our volunteers helped everything flow perfectly, and the rain washed away our worries and pain.

Today we shared, we learned, we regulated, and we grew together.

We cannot thank Temple Kat enough for making this journey to the ranch she helped create and for helping put on this wellness retreat. This incredible human being has helped so many people and will continue helping people by healing others so they can, in turn, help heal others. Like the sounds of the sound bowl vibrating through our bodies, the healing energy she emits spreads throughout the world in her travels.

Thank you, Kat, for a day we will never forget.

Special thanks to Aneta Harris of In Tune Yoga for sharing your incredible regulating yoga talents with us and for standing in the rain with us. Thank you to everyone who supported us so we could put this event on and enable a wonderful group of veterans to attend.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers for all your hard work and positive, giving energy in helping this day flow flawlessly, even when the rain came. But that’s what community is all about. We stand strong through the storms and come out stronger than ever before.
