A veteran wrote this poem after an equine therapy session and thought it was too beautiful not to share!

The rain came softly at first,
a gray whisper on the fence rails,
on the mane of the horse,
on my jacket sleeves.

I walked before speaking,
breathed before understanding,
listened for something quieter
than shame.

The trail was wet.
The sky made no promises.
Still, the horse carried me forward
without asking who I had been yesterday.

Mud on my boots.
Rain in my hair.
A steady heartbeat beneath me
stronger than overthinking.

Somewhere between hoofbeats
and the smell of earth,
I stopped treating myself
like a problem to solve.

Today my purpose
was not perfection.

It was presence.
It was movement.
It was feeling alive enough
to love the rain.☔️

Meet Daphne 💕 for adoption!

Don’t let her small size fool you—Daphne may be the tiniest of her litter, but she’s got the biggest personality! This spunky little girl is full of life and love, and she’s often the one leading the charge when it’s playtime with her brothers and sisters.

Daphne absolutely adores her human foster brothers and soaks up all the attention she can get—especially when they find her favorite scratch spot right near her tail (instant best friends 😄).

She’s been well socialized with both kids and other dogs, making her an easy fit for a variety of homes. She also handles baths and nail trims like a champ—beauty queen behavior 💅

Daphne is a hound/pit mix with a playful spirit, a sweet heart, and just the right amount of sass. She’s ready to bring joy, laughter, and lots of cuddles to her forever family.

✨ Adoption fee includes spay/neuter

Visit JSCRrescue.com to apply to adopt Daphne or fill out the application here!
