We get asked all the time how we keep going. The truth? It’s not the easy days. It’s moments like this—when a rescue finally feels safe enough to rest.

Sanctuary life is 90% hard work and 10% pure magic. Here is a look at the magic.

Thank you Susan Whitlow for the donation of canned dog food.

$3 Thursday

There is no such thing as a three dollar bag of dog food. The bags our twenty dogs eat cost twenty-five dollars each, and we go through ten of them a month.

But three dollars is three dollars closer to the next bag. And every bag starts with somebody's three dollars.

Twenty dogs. Forty-seven cups a day. Bag after bag after bag.

Can you do $3 today? https://givebutter.com/3dollars

This gray face would be walked past if she were in a shelter. Too old, people would say. Too slow. Too much work for whatever years are left.

People think a sanctuary is where an animal's story ends. It is the opposite. It is where they finally get to be ordinary. A full belly, a soft place to land, somebody who shows up every single morning. That is not a small life. That is the whole point of one.

A senior may not have a lot of time left. That is the part people get stuck on. But time does not work the same on their side of it. To an animal who spent years waiting to be chosen, a year in a forever home is not a short time. It is a lifetime. It is every good day they were owed, finally arriving all at once.

Help support our senior dogs. They need medical care and food just like the younger ones.

PICK A DATE TO HELP THE ANIMALS OF KINDRED TAILS!

We’re trying something a little different for a fundraiser, and this one is super simple!
At Kindred Tails Sanctuary, every day means food bowls to fill, litter boxes to clean, medications to give, animals to care for, and plenty of furry faces depending on us.
So we’re asking our Kindred Village to help us fill the calendar!
Here’s how it works:
Pick an available date on the calendar, and the number of the date is the amount you donate.

Comment below with the date you’d like, or message us privately. Once your donation is received, we’ll mark your date as FILLED!

Every dollar raised will go directly toward caring for the animals at Kindred Tails, including food, litter, veterinary care, medications, flea prevention, cleaning supplies, and the everyday necessities that keep everyone healthy and comfortable.

Can’t grab a date? Any donation is appreciated and helps us keep doing what we do every single day.

Pick your date below!
Let’s see if we can fill every square.

Tuesday: It Got Done

The kitten area, done. Litter boxes scooped, bedding swapped, bowls scrubbed and filled.

This is the job nobody wants. The smell hits first. The mess is never just one box. And there's always one more when you think you're finished.

No volunteers. No staff. No crew. Just us two.

But then they're eating, clean and fed, acting like they own the place. That's the whole paycheck right there.

What's the unglamorous job you do because somebody has to?

We still have some open days available. Make sure to look at the original post.
