Watch Out for Foxtails! 🌾🐕
The “Green Menace” is back in Santa Clarita. While they might look like harmless dried grass, foxtails are dangerous, barbed seeds that can burrow into your pet’s skin, paws, ears, and even lungs.
At All Creatures Veterinary Center in Newhall, we are seeing an increase in foxtail-related injuries. Because these seeds are designed to move in only one direction (forward!), they don’t just go away—they travel deep into the body and can cause severe infections or internal damage.
🚩 Signs Your Pet Has a Foxtail:
• Paws: Excessive licking, swelling, or a “pimple” between the toes.
• Ears: Violent head shaking or tilting.
• Nose: Sudden, intense sneezing or nasal discharge.
• Eyes: Squinting, redness, or discharge.
