Just finished adding four new pens to the bottom of an existing coop. I've slowly been closing in the bottoms of all the pens I had built up on legs to make the best use of space. This coop is 6ft x 8ft so each pen on the bottom is 3ft x 4ft which will be used for small groups of growouts now and then pairs or trios for conditioning or breeding.

Pen #1 of some of the older growouts. I hesitated to post these as anyone that raises chickens knows, they go through an "Ugly Phase" and many of these are, but they're starting to take shape. It's always interesting to see how they morph into something beautiful.

Switched most of the young birds over to pine pellets instead of shavings to try and combat this Florida humidity (84%). Damp bedding results in Coccidiosis problems, so hopefully this will help, as they're extremely absorbent and usually last longer than shavings. Sebrights can go downhill fast, so it's important to keep a close eye on their behavior. If any start acting lethargic, check droppings for blood. You must treat them ASAP to prevent loss as they can go downhill very quickly if left untreated.

This is more silvers than I am typically able to raise in a year! Had 29 silver sebrights hatch 🐣 today! Thankful for friends in the hobby that helped me grow my silver breeding program this year.

This is a Look 👀 but dont touch 🙅‍♂️🚫🖐 crew. These little ones will be divided into smaller groups and I will start getting them used to being handled. Sebrights are known to be a flighty breed, but most do tame down quite well.

Starting to get them sorted out into smaller groups to begin handling them more and sorting through them. The Standard of Perfection by the American Bantam Association describes every minute detail of how they should be. With that in mind, I am looking over them with a critical eye and those that don't make the cut will still go on to make someone a beautiful little pet!
