8 year old Pelusa is ready for retirement! 👏

This tabby boy is stealing hearts left and right on display in the free roam room! Pelusa was unfortunately surrendered after living his whole life in a home and understandably the transition to the shelter has been hard on him. 😔

But in the free roam room Pelusa has space to roam, freedom to play, hide, sleep and explore! Plus a great place to meet new people and get lots of loving!! 🥰

🆘 Star is facing a deadline & at risk. Can you help her? 💔

🚨 Star has a deadline of October 22nd to find rescue placement and get out of the shelter! 🌟 Star is a young Shepherd mix who arrived at the shelter due to landlord issues in the home. This poor girl is overwhelmed, afraid, and struggling in the shelter environment. 😥 The fear and stress she is experiencing have taken a toll on her. She cannot relax, be herself, or feel comfortable in her surroundings.

‼️ What Star needs most is to get OUT of the shelter and into the care of a rescue that understands the specific needs of her breed.

At just 1 year old, Star is barely out of puppyhood. She needs guidance, reassurance, training, and, most of all, time to decompress outside of the shelter environment.

‼️ Rescues, please help Star! Contact Rescue Coordinator Sherri Laraway at [email protected] to help give Star the chance she deserves. ❤️

Mom & kittens in need of foster! 🙏

😢 Goldie and her 3 kittens Amber, Butters and Dune are in need of foster care! After giving birth in a garage, Goldie and her surviving young were taken to the shelter.

Currently this mom is raising her vulnerable kittens in the shelter, but a foster home would save her from tons of shelter stress until her babies are old enough to be weaned and adopted!

🙏 Is there someone willing to help with poor mama and kittens? To help foster, please apply here: ahscares.org/become-a-foster

Adopt Legend! 🐶 🐾

Legend is a sweet boy recently surrendered, about 60lbs and 4 years old. ✅ His previous owners informed AHS that he has gotten along with kids of all ages, other dogs and even cats in his life, in addition to knowing several commands, we’re of course still getting to know him.

👍🏻 They also informed that Legend is house trained and does great in the crate. It is clear that Legend was a great family companion prior to his surrender and yearns to be part of another family who will give him the life he deserves! 🙌🏻

To meet Legend, please visit AHS Newark Animal Shelter 📍 124 Evergreen Ave, Newark NJ
