Your sport dog has a pattern, you just have to know where to look.

The stand is one of the easiest ways to see it before movement hides everything. Put your dog in a stand and actually watch where they’re loading. Are they dumping into one hip? Heavy on the front? Stuff that looks like a training issue is usually something physical.

Film it from the side. That’s your baseline.

The bow with lateral cookie stretches is where a lot of that repetitive work starts to show. Have them bow, come out of it controlled, then bring their nose to each hip. One side almost always has less range.

Most sport dogs will show you something here, especially on the side they use more.

Week 1 of with . Same work, different dogs. Go check her page.

Everyone knows we’re big into dog sports over here. PSA has always been our thing, with a heavy focus on competition obedience and protection.

Over the years we’ve had a ton of people ask about getting into sport work or personal protection training, and we’re officially opening that up.

We’re now taking on a limited number of dogs for:
• PSA bitework development
• Personal protection training

That said, not every dog is suited for this type of work. Nerves, drives, temperament, and stability all matter. Because of that, all dogs must go through an evaluation before being accepted into training.

If you’ve been interested in getting into sport or want to explore protection work with your dog, message us to set up an evaluation.

Ohio dog owners, this is something you should be paying attention to.

A new law called Avery’s Law goes into effect March 18, 2026, and it changes quite a bit about dog ownership in Ohio.

Dogs can now be labeled nuisance, dangerous, or vicious based on behavior, not just bite history. With that comes more responsibility on the owner and real consequences if something happens, including fines and potential charges depending on the situation.

A lot of this comes down to control.

If your dog is running loose, not listening, or you cannot confidently handle them in real life situations, that now matters on a different level. It is not just frustrating anymore, it can come back on you legally.

This also applies to anyone handling your dog, including trainers and board and train programs, while the dog is in their care.

This is exactly why I put so much focus on structure and real world obedience. Not just commands in the house, but being able to take your dog out and actually trust them and handle them.

Training is not just about having a “good” dog anymore, it is about responsibility and preventing situations before they happen.

If you are unsure where your dog stands or know you need help getting control, feel free to reach out. We are happy to help.

Come to the vet with us 🐾

Chowder is 8 weeks old and this is his very first vet visit. At this age it’s not just about the appointment, it’s about the experience. Lots of his favorite treats, meeting new people, hearing new sounds, and making sure everything feels safe and positive.

Early exposures like this help build confidence and set puppies up for a lifetime of success.

Hoping everyone has a day full of love and a lot of good treats!
