Samuel Pack Elliott (born August 9, 1944) is an American actor. He is the recipient of several accolades, including a Screen Actors Guild Award and a National Board of Review Award.
He has been nominated for an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and two Emmy Awards. Elliott was cast in the musical drama A Star Is Born (2018), for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the corresponding prizes at the Critics' Choice Movie Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards. I stopped setting an alarm a long time ago.

Not because I became a morning person, but because something better took over. Something warmer. Something that didn’t care what day it was or how late I stayed up the night before.

Every morning starts the same way. A quiet shift of weight on the bed. A familiar breath close to my face. And then that unmistakable touch. Cold. Gentle. Persistent. A wet nose pressing into skin like it’s checking if I’m still here.

There’s no snooze button for that kind of love.

He doesn’t rush me, but he doesn’t give up either. He waits, tail barely moving, eyes half hopeful, half certain. As if waking me up is not a task, but a responsibility he takes seriously. The day doesn’t begin until we acknowledge each other.

Some mornings I pretend to sleep a little longer, just to feel him settle closer. Just to enjoy that quiet moment before the world starts asking for things. Before emails, noise, and expectations. In those seconds, nothing exists except warmth, trust, and the soft understanding that we’re starting the day together.

Three days before chemo… I chose her. And in a time filled with fear, uncertainty, and long, quiet battles, she became more than just a pet—she became my strength. She stayed through the hardest moments. She loved me when I didn’t feel like myself.

Today, we celebrate her Gotcha Day… and two years of remission. 💛

Because sometimes, healing doesn’t happen alone.
