Creation has a way of reminding me how small I am and how big God is.
In 2026 alone, I’ve been to the mountains and the beach.
In a free fall from the sky and underground in a cave.
In wide open fields and in dense trees.
In noisy, bustling cities and in the middle of nowhere on horseback and on foot.
I’ve spent weeks surrounded by some of the best people I’ve ever met, sharing meals, dorms/hotels/cabins, laughter, prayers, and tears. And I’ve also spent weeks completely alone, working hard, studying, baking, reading, letting injuries heal…. Doing the behind the scenes work that doesn’t get an Instagram post.
I’ve watched the sun rise and set over crashing waves, mountaintops, fields of horses, open roads, and city skylines.
And God reveals himself in every single scenario. There’s no place I’ve gone where I haven’t been reminded of His glory and majesty.
The waves remind me of how gentle, yet mighty He is.
The mountains remind me of how vast and immeasurable His love is.
The caves remind me of his depth.
The sky reminds me of His omnipresence.
Being surrounded by people reminds me that I’m a part of the Body of Christ.
Being in solitude reminds me that my joy and contentment are from the Lord.
But the horse.
The horse is all of these reminders wrapped into one.
God reveals Himself through the horse in every moment, but I’ve learned that you have to be listening.
I could go on and on about how mighty and powerful and intelligent and loving the horse is, and how that relates to God. And it would all be true.
But the one that will bring me to tears is the forgiveness. The way that I can have a bad day and let my horsemanship fall apart, and my horses still greet me at the gate with a soft nicker. I can be beating myself up over a bad ride, and my horses will still breathe softly and look at me with kindness in their eyes as I untack them. I can be too caught up waiting for the big signs, that I miss the whisper. The small reminders of love and forgiveness.
And if that quality of the horse doesn’t remind you of God, I don’t know what will. His forgiveness is more than we could ever deserve, yet it’s given freely to those with faith and a repentant heart. He’s there in the whisper. In adversity and in abundance. Meeting human brokenness with love, truth, and forgiveness.

This is usually the kind of thing I would jot down in my journal, because writing seems to be the only way I can attach words to my feelings. Unfortunately I’ve run out of pages in my deep thought journal, and I’ve got a mind full deep thoughts that need to be put into words right now.
