A cat’s ideal diet can vary depending on their age, size, activity level, and whether they are eating wet food, dry food, or a combination of both.

Dr. Rubinstein explains that many adult cats do well with measured portions of canned food, while dry food should be fed thoughtfully, as it is typically higher in carbohydrates and lower in moisture.

One of the most important things you can do as a cat owner, is pay attention to your cat’s eating habits and body condition. Some cats are excellent at regulating their intake, while others may be more inclined to overeat, which can contribute to obesity and increase the risk of conditions such as diabetes and pancreatitis.

On the other hand, a cat that seems unusually hungry but is losing weight, or is eating more while also drinking and urinating excessively, may be showing signs of an underlying medical issue that warrants veterinary attention.

Every cat is unique, which is why regular veterinary care and individualized feeding recommendations are crucial. When it comes to nutrition, what matters most is finding the right balance for your cat!

When Beth adopted Panda, she gained more than a companion; she gained a tiny sidekick ready to accompany her just about anywhere!

These days, Panda spends his mornings eagerly hopping into his travel bag, ready for another day at work. He greets visitors, makes his rounds through the office, supervises from his favorite spots, and somehow still finds plenty of time for naps. And when the workday is over? That's when the zoomies begin!

From restaurant outings to errands around the city, Panda has embraced life alongside his person. He has become the kind of dog who is happiest simply being included, whether that means socializing with new friends or quietly relaxing beside Beth while she goes about her day.

One of the most rewarding parts of adoption is watching an animal settle into the life that suits them perfectly. For Panda, life now includes a lot of adventures, a lot of companionship, and one very special person to share it all with!

📢 For those who want to know... Some Hot Weather Tips for Pets.

🐶🐱 If an animal becomes overheated (heat prostration) it can die‼️ .

📢🐶🐱Never leave an animal in a vehicle. Even with windows left slightly open, any vehicle can quickly become a furnace. Also, keep in mind that many beloved pets have been stolen from their owners’ cars.

📢🐶🐱When traveling with your pet, be sure to carry plenty of fresh water.

📢🐶 Walk your dog early in the morning or in the evening when the temperatures are lower and keep walks to a minimum if the temperatures are extremely high. Your dog is very close to the asphalt and their body can heat up quickly. Their paws can get burned.

📢🐶 Do not exercise your animal after a meal in hot, humid weather.

📢🐶 Don’t forget your pets can get sunburn just like you. Never take an animal to the beach unless you can provide a shaded spot and plenty of fresh water. Rinse your dog if he goes in salt water.

📢🐶 Old and overweight dogs have a hard time in hot weather. Snub-nosed dogs like Bulldogs, Pekingese, Boston Terriers, Shih Tzus, and Lhasa Apsos, have a hard time breathing and should be kept indoors in air-conditioning as much as possible - as should any animal who has an existing medical condition, especially a heart or lung problem.

📢🐶 ‼️ Never leave your dog unattended near a swimming pool. Many dogs love water and will happily jump into a pool, but they are unable to climb pool ladders and will be unable to get out. Without assistance, an exhausted dog can drown. .

📢🐶‼️ Never leave your dog tied up anywhere- any time of the year.

In his own words… We are delighted to hear this Happy Tail from Wally’s adopter, Anthony!

“Wally has had some big adventures! He flew to Florida with me, for a 3-week stay to visit my parents. He hung out with his cat cousins, Rocky, Reggie Lucy Lu, and even a canine cousin, Leo (the Husky). He adapted really well there, with all the people coming and going.

No surprise, he is growing up so quickly into the gorgeous young feline that he is. He makes me so happy and is already emotionally bonded to me. He is funny, somewhat rambunctious, energetic and highly curious as many ginger cats are known for. But, Wally is a creamy ginger, with a cream sweet center that does crave affection, as much as he tries to show he is a tough little boss man.

I love him more than words. Thank you for bringing him into my life 🙂”

With temperatures getting warmer, and summer on its way, Bill shares his tips for combating heat exhaustion with your dog.

As temperatures rise, it is important to pay attention to how your dog is handling the heat. Unlike people, dogs primarily cool themselves by panting, which means overheating can happen quickly, especially during walks, outdoor play, or time spent in direct sun.

Panting is normal, but excessive panting, slowing down, struggling to recover, or a tongue that appears swollen or unusually wide can all be signs that your dog’s body is working too hard to regulate its temperature.

During warmer days, stick to shaded areas, avoid hot pavement that can burn paw pads, bring lots of water along, and be mindful about the time of day you’re heading outside. Early mornings and evenings are often much safer and more comfortable for dogs during the summer months.

We all look forward to summertime, and our pets can enjoy it too. A little extra awareness and care can help keep them safe, cool, and comfortable all season long.

Amora has a calmness about her, but don’t mistake that for a lack of personality!

At a year and a half old, this thoughtful girl enjoys taking in the world. She’s observant and a little shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, a playful and affectionate side begins to emerge.

She’s very young at heart, does well with other cats, and is comfortable around children. There is a gentle ease to Amora that makes her incredibly enjoyable to spend time with, and before long, don’t be surprised if she decides the best place to be is right beside you! She is the kind of cat who brings both softness and life into your home.

Amora may not demand attention the moment she enters a room, but give her a little time, and she will become a part of your everyday rhythm. Interested? Her adoption info is in our bio!

We are certain Winnie is the girl who will win over your heart!

With her soft white coat, striking green eyes, and thoughtful expression, Winnie has the kind of presence that immediately draws you in. At 7 years young, she is a charming companion who is happiest when she has a good window view, a favorite toy nearby, and someone to share the day with.

Winnie knows how to keep you company in all the best ways. Whether she’s batting around a toy with you, curled up next to you while you unwind, or watching the city happenings from the window nearby.

She’s also quite the conversationalist! A talkative girl who is always ready to listen to the events of your day and offer her own thoughts and commentary in return. While she’d prefer to be the only pet in the home, Winnie has more than enough personality to fill the space herself!

“My dog isn’t eating” is one of the most common concerns veterinarians hear, and the answer isn’t always straightforward.

Sometimes the reason is simple. Your dog may prefer a different flavor or texture of food, may have had too many treats during the day, or could be feeling temporarily anxious due to changes in routine, travel, loud environments, or being left with a sitter.

But appetite changes can also signal something more serious. If your dog’s lack of interest in food is accompanied by symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, pain, or general changes in behavior, it is important to contact your veterinarian. Even subtle shifts in appetite can provide important clues about your pet’s overall health.

As Dr. Rubinstein explains, skipping one meal may not always be cause for alarm, but if your dog goes more than a day without eating, they should be evaluated by a veterinarian.

Knowing what is normal for your dog is one of the best tools you have as a pet owner!

When Casey was surrendered, he was suffering from a serious eye infection that had been left untreated. Every effort was made to save his eye, but it had to be removed.

Casey was adopted, but the resident cat bullied him terribly, and the family knew it wasn't a happy environment for him.

Having limited vision does not limit his ability to enjoy everything that other cats enjoy. Casey loves sitting by a window, scratching his favorite post, and playing with toys. He is also very sweet and affectionate and will happily climb in your lap.

Casey is looking for a quieter future as an only cat, where he can settle in and enjoy the comfort, security, and happy life he deserves.

Please share and help him start a new beginning.
