Harlem Cats

As I've been sharing on Instagram (where we are, ahem, more active...sorry!), our group took over care of six senior cats a few weeks ago. We helped their mom get them all vetted as young kits over a decade ago. Thanks to being microchipped to us, we learned from the NYC shelter when the mom surrendered them all. She just couldn't care for them anymore.

So sad, especially for these babies, now 11/12 year old (!). They were so depressed and shut down in the shelter. THANKFULLY our group was able to take them in to foster through our amazing cat rescue community. Now some of them are moving along to more permanent homes.

But they all need vetting, especially dental work. We started a Go Fund Me for Bricks--the star of the gang, the most social and outgoing who has a place to go at the end of this week. Yay!!! To prepare for his happy next spot, we have a dental appt for Bricks tomorrow (Monday).

If you're able to pitch in for Bricks' dental, we would appreciate it so much! We are getting close to our target and want to get a little closer so we can give the vet the go ahead to give him everything he needs. Almost certainly some extractions (the shelter found he had chipped and damaged teeth) and a good cleaning.

Mimi cracks us up with her silly play and coy requests for pets. We are so happy that she seems to have long forgotten the days at the end of 2025 that she was hiding under a parked car before our rescue group re-connected with her (thanks to her microchip back when we got her vetted).

Mimi is also blissfully unaware that in one month she will lose her foster home (by June 20). All we want is for her to move into a forever home and truly not have a care in the world, other than finding the sunniest spot in the place.

Could you please think of Mimi if you are looking to bring a feline love into your home and spread the word to others you know? Mimi can travel beyond NYC--to CT, MA, etc--for the right home. She'd do best in a home that's quiet and chill like she is, ideally with no young kids or other pets (unless very chill like she is).

Mimi has been a tough case, probably for several reasons, including that she is about 11 years old. (We got her vetted in 2016 (!!) when she was a spry young kitten.) But the way she has blossomed in her foster home makes us so proud. And the fact that the vet declared her in excellent health (blood results included) makes us relieved that Mimi was probably not roughing it outside for long.

We are so eager to find Mimi the loving committed home she deserves!
