No but actually WHY does this bother ppl so much? Also let’s define a comparison: the act of evaluating two or more things to identify their similarities and differences. Bc I think we all forget the differences part of the equation 🤣

Ohhhh the feelings that come up whenever you have to take your dog to get an exam, whether that be a check up or a neuro like this one. 😩 I hope we get some answers soon!

This exercise is called “Up Down,” and it’s one of my favorite exercises for dogs with big feelings about the world. (credit to Leslie McDevitt)

The concept is simple: 
treat on the ground ➡️dog looks up ➡️treat on the ground ➡️dog looks up. 

Over and over again in a predictable rhythm.

This helps because predictability ➡️ feelings of safety.

For reactive, anxious, or easily overwhelmed dogs, walks can feel sooo chaotic! Pattern games give the nervous system something to focus on instead of spiraling into the environment.

Think of this as their anchor. It’s teaching them to regulate and slow down.

I also like to tell my clients that it helps THEM slow down and focus as well. Because if you’re anything like me, your nervous system is shook every time you walk your reactive dog.
