CONTEXT MATTERS, PEOPLE!!!
We need to stop looking at one decision someone makes with their dog and immediately deciding whether they’re a “good” or “bad” dog guardian.
Your dog sleeps in your bed? Cool.
Your dog sleeps in a crate? Also cool.
You feed kibble? Fine.
You feed fresh food? Also fine.
The question should always be: Does this work for this dog, this family, and this situation?
Dogs are individuals and families have different lifestyles. And there is almost never enough context from a 10-second interaction to know what’s actually best for someone else’s dog.
Of course, some choices genuinely aren’t appropriate or safe. But what I’m saying is that context matters, individual dogs matter, and there is more than one right way to live with a dog.
So maybe we can spend a little less time judging other dog guardians. PLEASE.
