Love all the dog-friendly farmers markets! Have you checked out Waikoloa’s? It’s the first Saturday of every month from 9am-1pm at Waikoloa Stables. Mostly grass and shaded, they offer fresh fruit and vegetables as well as arts and crafts, plants, coffee (with homemade syrups!), soaps, and more! Check them out!
We would be pleased to have you join us with your own booth, but if that doesn’t work, we are produce buyers and can purchase from you to sell in our Market tent.

Let’s make it work to bring more fresh produce to our Waikoloa Community 😃

It’s wonderful to see low cost or free mobile pet wellness clinics around our island. I spotted this one today by on Facebook and made an appointment just this morning to bring over our boy for a nail trim. Today’s clinic was located at Waimea Nature Park. Although it was misting rain, they were set up in the covered picnic area. It’s super easy to book an appointment online. During this special event, we will be offering:
- Free vaccines for dogs and cats (including Leptospirosis vaccines for dogs, which are vital to keeping your pet protected in Hawaii!)
- Free heartworm tests for dogs
- Free samples of heartworm and flea/tick preventatives
- Free microchipping

All services are offered BY APPOINTMENT ONLY to give you and your pet designated time with our veterinarians. We endeavor to provide a stress-free experience for you and your pet. We are unable to accept walk-ins.

Services are available for owned dogs and cats only. Pets must be able to be safely handled. All dogs must be on a leash at all times. All cats must be brought in a secure carrier.

🚨They can build a fence TOMORROW (Sunday)! This group - Domestic Violence Hurts Animals and People - had a family they were going to build a fence for this Sunday (tomorrow), but it fell through. They would still like to find a family who meets the requirements of having their dog(s) contained in a bad situation. If you know of anyone, please email them at [email protected] to have to set it up today and have them fill out an application.

About Outdoor Dogs on Chains or Tie-Outs:
Dogs who live on chains or tie-outs are exposed to many risks. Dogs are naturally social beings who need interaction with humans and/or other animals. Intensive confinement or long-term restraint can severely damage their physical and psychological well-being. An otherwise friendly and docile dog, when kept continuously chained or intensively confined in any way, becomes neurotic, unhappy, anxious and often aggressive. It is common for continuously tethered dogs to endure physical ailments as a result of being continuously tethered. Their necks can become raw and sore and their collars can painfully grow into their skin. They are vulnerable to insect bites and parasites and are at high risk of entanglement, strangulation and harassment or attacks by other dogs or people.

Dogs that are living mostly or exclusively outdoors must be provided with a safe, escape-proof enclosure with proper shelter, where they may be able to move about freely and express natural behaviors.

About this opportunity:
Domestic Violence Hurts Animals and People has a last minute opening this Sunday, October 19 to build a free fence for a low income family in West Hawaii with a dog who is contained either on a chain or in a small crate. Although a family with a low income is important, the deciding factor will be the dog's situation. We need a flat area to build the fence.

Calling all dog lovers and their furry companions! It’s time for the ultimate showdown at the Mutt Contest, where your dog’s quirkiest traits could earn them the spotlight and some fun prizes, too!

It all takes place on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at the Honokaʻa Sports Complex (at the Hāmākua Sugar Days Fair). Contest kicks off at 11:30 AM sharp! This event is packed with hilarious and heartwarming categories, including: Most Indistinguishable Breed, Owner & Mutt Look-A-Like, and a Poi Dog Pageant.

Entry fee $10 if you sign up early (by Oct. 1) and $15 for last-minute entries (day-of registration welcome).

Not only will your pup gain some serious bragging rights, but you’ll also be helping local community programs and a Hawai‘i Island animal rescue organization.

A dog-friendly concert?!! Yes please!🙌 Rock band Whatever, Heather hits the stage on Saturday, August 23rd from 6:30-8:30pm at Waikoloa Stables. It’ll be loud and rocking, so please only bring leashed pups that are accustomed to loud music and dancing. Hope to see you there! Disclaimer: My husband is the lead guitarist for Whatever Heather. Proud to say that all band members are BIG time dog/animal lovers and adopters.
