Our day started bright and early at 7:00 AM. We hit the ground running with one of our rescue partners, trying to trap a litter of kittens. Unfortunately, the kittens other plans, and we were unsuccessful this morning. Some kittens just make you work harder, so we’ll be back at it until we’re able to get them.
We thought we’d spend the rest of our day relaxing… but alas, the universe had other plans.
We received an urgent request from our new friend Val, who was desperately trying to find help for a momma cat and her newborn kittens in a local housing complex. They were in an unsafe location and needed immediate intervention.
When we arrived, our hearts broke. Of her four newborn kittens, only two were still alive, with their placentas still attached.
We often debate sharing the harsh realities of animal rescue. We know everyone loves to see happy, cute kitten pictures. But we believe it’s incredibly important to share the heartbreaking parts, too. Rescue isn’t just kitten cuddles; it’s grit, sorrow, and racing against the clock. This was a hard day.
We aren’t quite sure yet if momma cat is friendly or feral. She is understandably scared right now. But the good news is that she and her two surviving babies are now safe, warm, and dry with plenty of food.
Three more lives saved.
Thank you to Val for stepping up, to our partners, and to all of you who support us so we can answer these urgent calls.
Please keep this little family in your thoughts tonight. 🙏❤️
