The White-crested Hornbill (Tockus albocristatus) is a striking African bird known for its distinctive snowy-white crest and black-and-white plumage. Found in lowland rainforests and wooded areas across West and Central Africa, this medium-sized hornbill feeds primarily on fruits, insects, and small animals.

Unlike larger hornbills, it lacks a prominent casque but makes up for it with a loud, cackling call often heard in pairs or small groups. It nests in tree cavities, where the female seals herself inside during incubation, relying on the male to deliver food—a classic hornbill breeding strategy.

A social and vocal species, the White-crested Hornbill plays a key role in seed dispersal, helping maintain forest ecosystems. Its bold appearance and lively behavior make it a fascinating subject for birdwatchers and ecologists alike.

When it starts 'mixing tracks,' the whole forest turns into a nightclub!

Brahminy Starling (Sturnia pagodarum),a small fawn-colored starling with a long wispy crest that usually lies limp over the back of its head, but the feathers on its cheek and upper breast stand up and away from its cheek. Its upperparts are gray and the dark tail is tipped in white. Note the yellow bill with a blue base. Often seen in small family groups, feeding on fruits and nectar as well as insects on the ground or in the trees. They have a wide repertoire of calls and are also given to mimicking other species.Found in open woodlands, farmlands, and near human settlements, often near temples (hence "Pagoda Starling").Common in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and parts of Southeast Asia.
