Beagles are cheerful, curious, and endlessly entertaining companions. One of the most popular dog breeds in the United States, they were originally bred for hunting and still carry that keen nose and determination today. In a city like New York, that nose can lead them into all kinds of adventures on a walk.
Beagles are social, gentle with children, and generally good with other dogs. They do have a tendency to follow their nose wherever it leads, so a secure leash is always a must. Health-wise, Beagles are prone to ear infections due to their floppy ears, weight gain if not exercised enough, and occasionally epilepsy. Regular vet visits and a consistent activity routine go a long way.
