At Brooklyn Cat Cafe, we are proud to be one of the earliest cat cafes in the US, and the first to launch in New York City’s most populous borough. We’re the only cafe in the city run by a non-profit animal rescue organization. Our mission is to save our city’s cats, and we advance it by offering a hip and inviting destination where cat lovers of all ages can interact with adoptable animals – and one another – while learning about pet rescue and care together too.

This Thursday, Oct 15 at 6:30pm, Brooklyn Cat Cafe is hosting a special advance screening of NEW YORK CAT CRISIS (2026), a feature-length documentary about cat overpopulation across all five boroughs.

As rescuers, advocates, and animal welfare organizations call on the City of New York to invest in accessible, low-cost veterinary care, the film looks at the systems that have allowed this crisis to grow. It features interviews with members of the NYC rescue community, including staff and leadership from Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition, which owns and operates Brooklyn Cat Cafe and the BBAWC Rescue Clinic.

We’re thrilled to welcome filmmakers Olivia Leyva and George K. Denison of Epiphyte Productions.

🚨 Seating is limited, and booking is open now through the events link in our bio. If you care about cats, rescue, or what it takes to fix this, we’d love to have you in the room.

Learn more about the film at newyorkcatcrisis.com!

Help us name Layne’s Big Baby!

It’s been quite a week. Baby was trapped last Wednesday night, and Layne followed on Friday night. Once they were back together, baby was so happy to be with mom again, and they’ve been sticking close ever since!

Right now this sweet kitten is going by “Layne’s Big Baby,” so drop your name suggestions in the comments. We’ll pick our favorite and announce it soon 🩵

This October, two of our favorite little spooks are stepping into the spotlight. 🎃

Meet Scorpion & Pina Colada, our October Cats of the Month and official Halloween twins! 🍹🦂

These two came to us as newborns, rescued alongside their mom and siblings from a hoarding situation. Their mom was severely underweight while caring for six kittens, so we’re so glad we were able to take them all in. They were raised in our kitten room, and now they’re brave, social, and loved by everyone they meet, including kids and other cats (and we think dogs too!).

They love to play, they love to snuggle, and they love each other most of all. Truly perfect angels. 😇

The rest of their family has found homes, and these two are the last of the litter waiting for theirs. Could you be their people? Apply to adopt at the link in bio.
